Disney later confirmed that its redesigned service includes a Live hub with live news, sports, events and “24/7 Streams.” The exact themed lineup, plan eligibility and availability still vary by market and subscription, so the four channels described in 2024 coverage should not be treated as a guaranteed 2026 lineup.
The short answer
Disney+ now offers a linear-style viewing option called 24/7 Streams inside the Live hub. You choose a stream rather than an individual title, then watch whatever is scheduled when you join. That makes the feature similar in format to FAST television, but it does not automatically mean the streams are free, that they replace cable, or that every country receives the same channels.

Disney’s official announcement confirms the Live hub and 24/7 Streams, but it does not publish a universal channel list or a single worldwide plan rule. Check the Live menu in your own account before assuming a particular stream is included.
How the idea developed
April 15, 2024: an unconfirmed plan
NextTV’s account of an Information report said Disney+ was considering always-on, linear-style channels built around Star Wars, Marvel and other franchises or themes. The report cited unnamed sources. It did not provide a launch date, confirmed lineup, geographic rollout or definitive pricing, and Disney had not officially announced the product at that point.

September 2024: four channels reported
Tom’s Guide later reported four curated channels and said they would refresh their programming monthly. The same report associated the channels with Disney+’s Premium, ad-free plan and said 24/7 ABC News and Disney Junior streams had also appeared. These are historical secondary reports, not a complete current Disney+ channel guide.
October 2, 2025: Disney confirms the product category
In its official announcement, Disney described a redesigned Disney+ navigation system with a Live hub leading to live news, sports, events and 24/7 Streams. The announcement also said Hulu would become Disney+’s global general-entertainment brand beginning October 8, 2025, and described further work toward a unified Disney+/Hulu app experience. It did not say that every previously reported themed channel launched everywhere or remains active.
What “24/7 Streams” actually are
A 24/7 Stream is a continuously available, curated feed. Instead of selecting a specific episode and starting at its beginning, you select the stream and join the scheduled rotation, potentially in the middle of a movie, episode or other program.

- Linear presentation: programming follows a schedule or rotation rather than your personal queue.
- Less browsing: the format is designed for viewers who want to start watching quickly.
- Not necessarily live production: a stream can run continuously while showing prerecorded programs.
Disney places these feeds alongside genuinely live news, sports and events in the Live hub. Therefore, “Live” is an interface category, not a promise that every item is a live broadcast or a full cable-style channel.

Disney’s first-party announcement confirms the existence of 24/7 Streams but does not reproduce this list. Seasonal schedules, rights and regional catalogs can change, so look at the Live hub for the channels actually offered to your account.

How to find the streams in Disney+
- Open the Disney+ app or website.
- Open the main vertical navigation.
- Select Live.
- Browse the live news, sports, events and 24/7 Streams sections.
- Select a stream to begin playback.
Menu labels and placement can differ by country, device, app version, account profile and rollout stage. If Live is missing, update the app, sign out and back in, check your plan and billing region, try a supported device or browser, and review Disney+ Help for regional availability. These checks cannot make an unavailable feature appear; the hub may simply not be offered on that account or in that market.
Are the streams free, ad-supported or subscription-only?
FAST usually means free, ad-supported streaming television. Disney+’s proposal borrows that lean-back, scheduled format, but the original reporting indicated that viewers would need a Disney+ subscription. Advertising can still appear within a stream even when the wider service is sold as a subscription.

Which Disney+ plan includes them?
The September 2024 report associated the four themed channels with the Premium, ad-free plan. Disney’s October 2025 announcement confirmed the Live hub and 24/7 Streams without stating that every stream universally requires Premium or that one rule applies in all countries.
Before subscribing or upgrading, check:
- Your country or billing region.
- The exact Disney+ plan name on your account.
- Whether the Live hub appears in your app.
- Whether the desired stream requires a bundle, add-on or particular tier.
- Device, profile and parental-control restrictions.
Disney says prices vary by plan, region and third-party billing partner. See the official pricing information for your market rather than relying on a price shown elsewhere.

Tubi, Pluto TV and The Roku Channel provide free, advertising-supported channel-style viewing in supported markets. Disney+ combines its streams with a paid, on-demand catalog and Disney-owned franchises. The choice depends on whether you value Disney exclusives and an integrated subscription more than a no-monthly-fee channel grid.

What the format is good for—and where it falls short
Why viewers may like it
- It starts quickly when you do not want to choose a specific title.
- The schedule can feel familiar to people used to broadcast or cable television.
- Themed feeds can surface older catalog titles that are easy to miss in a library interface.
- It suits background viewing, exercise, parties and family rooms.
- Seasonal programming can create a shared, appointment-like experience.
Trade-offs to expect
- You may join after a program has started and lack full start-time control.
- Repeats can become noticeable, especially on narrow themes.
- Advertising may appear depending on the stream and plan.
- Do not assume every feed offers a full DVR, restart or rewind function.
- Schedules and availability can change with rights, regional catalogs and seasonal rotations.
- Continuous playback can use substantial data, particularly at high resolution.
What Disney+ 24/7 Streams are not
- They are not automatically a replacement for Hulu + Live TV.
- They are not proof that Disney+ carries every Disney Channel, ESPN or local broadcast feed.
- They are not a guarantee that every title starts from the beginning.
- They are not a confirmed free tier.
- They are not a globally identical channel lineup.
Hulu content inside Disney+ also depends on an eligible Hulu or bundle subscription and regional entitlement. Check Disney’s Hulu-on-Disney+ eligibility information for the account in question.
Why Disney is adding linear-style viewing
The reported goals are to increase time spent in the app, provide a lean-back alternative to endless browsing, improve discovery of older titles, create advertising opportunities and support retention. Those are strategic rationales, not a published measurement showing that the streams have reduced churn.
The approach also fits Disney’s broader effort to make Disney+ and Hulu feel like a destination rather than separate libraries. Disney described the unified app experience as forthcoming, so do not describe that integration as a completed merger solely on the basis of the 2025 announcement.
Who should use the feature?
24/7 Streams are most useful if you want passive viewing, family-room programming, seasonal themes or a quick Star Wars, Marvel, documentary or children’s feed without selecting an episode. On-demand browsing is better if you need a particular title, want every program from the beginning, dislike repetition or require predictable playback controls.
Bottom line
Disney+’s always-on-channel concept moved from an unnamed-source report on April 15, 2024 to an officially acknowledged Live-hub feature on October 2, 2025. The reliable current statement is that Disney+ has 24/7 Streams—not that every four-channel name reported in 2024 is still present, available worldwide or included with one universal plan. Open Disney+ → Live → 24/7 Streams and verify the stream, advertising and entitlement shown for your own account.
