No official source cited here confirms that Dean Ambrose returned to WWE after SummerSlam 2026. WWE’s event results say Kevin Owens returned at the August 2 show; separate AEW coverage lists Jon Moxley at an AEW Collision event dated October 3. The claim that Ambrose was expected to return should therefore be treated as unconfirmed, not as a completed appearance or announced plan.
What happened at SummerSlam 2026?
WWE’s official SummerSlam 2026 results identify the event as taking place on Sunday, August 2, 2026. The recap describes Kevin Owens making a return, but does not report an appearance by Dean Ambrose or Jon Moxley.
That page documents the event and the return WWE chose to identify. It does not establish that an Ambrose/Moxley return was planned, discussed, or ruled out.
Why do some readers say Dean Ambrose and others say Jon Moxley?
Dean Ambrose is the name WWE audiences know. The AEW coverage cited here identifies him as Jon Moxley. AEW’s official news index lists Moxley in coverage of AEW Collision dated October 3, 2026. That is evidence of his activity in AEW coverage on that date, not proof of contract terms or future plans.

Is a WWE return confirmed?
No. The official WWE and AEW pages cited here do not confirm a WWE return, signing, negotiation, or scheduled appearance for Ambrose/Moxley. They also contain no attributable statement from him, WWE, or AEW confirming or denying a planned return. Because those pages are not an exhaustive record of every later announcement, their silence alone cannot prove that no announcement exists elsewhere or was made later.
Does SummerSlam 2025 offer evidence of a return?
No. WWE’s official SummerSlam 2025 results documented Brock Lesnar returning after the main event. That was a separate event and a separate wrestler; it does not support a claim about Ambrose/Moxley.

How to read the “expected to return” claim
- Confirmed appearance: An official event report identifies the wrestler as appearing. The 2026 SummerSlam recap does this for Kevin Owens, not Ambrose/Moxley.
- Future plan or prediction: This requires a direct, current announcement or credible reporting. The official pages cited here establish neither a planned return nor a return date.
- Rumor or fan speculation: Without attributable confirmation, it should not be presented as news that a return is happening.
