It is open at Universal Studios Japan in Osaka, Universal Studios Hollywood in California, and Universal Epic Universe in Orlando. The lands share a theme, but their documented attractions, expansions, and entry procedures differ by park.
What is Super Nintendo World, and where can you visit?
Super Nintendo World brings Nintendo game environments into Universal theme parks through themed areas, rides, and interactive play. Nintendo’s 2025 corporate report lists the three destinations and opening sequence: Universal Studios Japan in Osaka opened its land in 2021, Universal Studios Hollywood followed in 2023, and Universal Epic Universe in Orlando opened its version in May 2025. Nintendo’s 2025 corporate report documents that timeline.
For trip planning, choose the specific park first: the Orlando page describes a different set of features from the Japan materials, and Japan’s Donkey Kong Country expansion is specific to that park. Do not assume an attraction, play feature, or entry rule at one location applies at the others.
How the three park versions differ
| Destination | Documented details | What to check before visiting |
|---|---|---|
| Universal Studios Japan, Osaka | Opened in 2021. Donkey Kong Country, an expansion of Super Nintendo World, opened on December 11, 2024; the expansion includes the Golden Temple and a new ride attraction. | Check the official Super Nintendo World page and the Donkey Kong Country announcement for current attraction and area-entry instructions. |
| Universal Studios Hollywood, California | Opened in 2023. The reviewed official information establishes the location and opening year but does not state additional sub-area or attraction details here. | Consult the park’s current official information for its attractions, operating status, and entry procedures. |
| Universal Epic Universe, Orlando | Opened in May 2025. Universal Orlando’s official page describes Mario Kart and Donkey Kong Country in its Super Nintendo World land. | Check the official Universal Orlando land page for current details. |
What does the Power-Up Band do?
At Universal Studios Japan, a Power-Up Band enables interactive play, including Key Challenges and collecting virtual coins and items. The park’s Key Challenges page says a band is required to experience that attraction and notes that bands can be purchased at a cart near Super Star Plaza. That requirement is for Key Challenges; the page does not establish that a band is needed just to enter the land.
#1 Best Overall
- The next evolution of Nintendo Switch
- One system, three play modes: TV, Tabletop, and Handheld
- Larger, vivid, 7.9” LCD touch screen with support for HDR and up to 120 fps
- Dock that supports 4K when connected to a compatible TV*
- GameChat** lets you voice chat, share your game screen, and connect via video chat as you play
The Japan play experience also connects to the official park app, which can display scores, coins, and digital stamps. The Play Experience page says the app is not required to enjoy Super Nintendo World. Band and app functions described here are Japan-specific; check the destination park’s own guidance for any other location. Current price, Amazon stock, and cross-park compatibility are not established by these official pages.
Do you need a reservation or special ticket?
Entry arrangements can vary by park and date, so use the current instructions for the exact destination rather than relying on a general rule. Universal Studios Japan’s Donkey Kong Country page says that from January 5, 2026, guests need to use the official app for area timed-entry and standby-entry tickets. This is a Japan-specific, date-sensitive instruction; consult the current Japan land page and Donkey Kong Country page before travel.
Rank #2
- 6.2” LCD screen
- Three play modes: TV, tabletop, and handheld
- Local co-op, online, and local wireless multiplayer
- Detachable Joy-Con controllers
- Nintendo Switch is the home of Mario & friends
Official pages provide park ticket links and current experience information, but admission prices, future attraction availability, and any reservation requirement for a particular visit should be verified directly with the park. The Japan Key Challenges band requirement does not by itself mean that a band or timed-entry ticket is required for all land access.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which Super Nintendo World should you visit?
- Choose Osaka if you want the documented Japan version, including the Donkey Kong Country expansion and its interactive Power-Up Band experience.
- Choose Orlando if you want the Epic Universe version that Universal Orlando describes with Mario Kart and Donkey Kong Country.
- Choose Hollywood for the California destination; verify its current attraction lineup and entry details through the park’s own information, since those specifics are not established here.
All three destinations are part of the same broad Nintendo theme, but they are not interchangeable attraction packages. Compare the current offerings and visit rules at the specific park you plan to attend.
