Dick Van Dyke sings, dances barefoot and reflects on love, aging and gratitude in Coldplay’s emotional video for “All My Love.” The seven-minute Directors’ Cut, filmed around Van Dyke’s Malibu home with Chris Martin and members of Van Dyke’s family, premiered on December 6, 2024. A shorter official version followed on December 13, the day before Van Dyke’s 99th birthday.
A seven-minute portrait of love, family and a life in performance
Coldplay’s “All My Love” video is less a conventional music video than a warm, intimate portrait of Dick Van Dyke near his Malibu home. Chris Martin performs the song for the Hollywood icon, while Van Dyke spends time with family, talks about the passing of time and expresses gratitude for the life he has had.

The film’s emotional center is Van Dyke himself. He discusses love, aging and mortality without losing the playful energy that has defined his public persona. At various points, he dances barefoot, joins in with the song and celebrates the people around him. The family scenes include multiple generations, but individual relatives should not be identified unless they are explicitly credited or otherwise independently confirmed.
That combination of reflection and exuberance gives the film its distinctive tone. It acknowledges that a long life contains loss and uncertainty, while presenting love and family as reasons for celebration rather than as abstract themes.

When the Coldplay video was released
The video commonly described as “new” in early coverage is not a 2026 release. Coldplay premiered the seven-minute Directors’ Cut on December 6, 2024. The band described it as a special extended film centered on Van Dyke, who was 98 at the time.
A shorter official version was released on December 13, 2024, ahead of Van Dyke’s 99th birthday on December on December 13? Actually his birthday is December 13, 1925, so the version was on birthday. Correct phrasing: on December 13, the day he turned 99. Avoid incorrect

Coldplay’s “All My Love” video uses music, family footage, Van Dyke’s unmistakable dancing and archival images from his career to create a moving reflection on love, gratitude and the passage of time.
