Four men alleged in a civil lawsuit that Chris Brown and members of his entourage assaulted them backstage after his July 20, 2024, concert at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. Brown’s attorney denied that Brown initiated physical contact. Fort Worth police sought witnesses and were reported to be investigating; an August 1 report said no criminal charges had been filed as of that date. These are allegations and dated procedural updates, not proof of an assault or a later account of the case’s outcome.
What the lawsuit alleged
Brown performed at Dickies Arena on July 19 and 20, 2024, as part of his 11:11 tour. On July 22, Larry Parker, Joseph Lewis, Charles Bush and Damarcus Powell filed a civil suit in Harris County, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
The complaint, as described by the Star-Telegram and CBS Texas, said the men and a group of women had been invited to a backstage VIP area after the July 20 show. The plaintiffs alleged that, after Bush spoke briefly with Brown, a member of Brown’s entourage reminded the singer of an earlier disagreement. They said Brown then directed members of his entourage to attack as the group tried to leave. The complaint described the men as being punched, kicked and stomped; those claims have not been established as findings.
The first suit sought more than $50 million in compensatory and punitive damages, the Star-Telegram reported. That was the plaintiffs’ demand, not a court award.

Brown’s response and other defendants’ positions
Brown’s attorney, Levi G. McCathern II, told CBS Texas on July 31, 2024: “Even in this challenging circumstance, Chris never initiated physical contact with anyone.” McCathern also argued that the plaintiffs came backstage to provoke Brown and create a basis for a lawsuit. In an August 1 report, the Star-Telegram quoted him saying: “These individuals saw him as an opportunity for financial gain and should never have been permitted backstage in the first place. The whole episode was clearly a set up.” These are the attorney’s statements, not court findings.
The Star-Telegram reported that Live Nation denied the allegations in the first suit. A lawyer for rapper Deandre Conway, also known as Yella Beezy and named in the suit, denied Conway’s involvement and called the lawsuit “frivolous and without merit,” according to the outlet’s July 28 report.

A separate suit by arena security staff
Frederick Overpeck, identified by the Star-Telegram as Dickies Arena’s head of backhouse security, filed a separate suit alleging that he was injured while intervening. The outlet reported that he sought $15 million in compensatory and punitive damages. That figure is a claim, not an award. The available reporting does not establish the outcome of his case.

Fort Worth police sought information from witnesses to a backstage altercation after the concert. The Star-Telegram reported the request on July 25, 2024; CBS Texas reported on July 31 that police confirmed an investigation. An August 1 Star-Telegram report said police were investigating the alleged assault and that no criminal charges had been filed as of that report. These updates describe the status reported in July and August 2024 only; they do not establish what happened afterward.
