The available reporting verifies two celebrities who have spoken publicly about their own Tourette syndrome: Billie Eilish and Lewis Capaldi. It does not support a list of eight personal disclosures. An awareness campaign that featured eight celebrities is not evidence that those participants have Tourette syndrome.
What Tourette syndrome is—and what a public account can show
The Tourette Association of America describes Tourette syndrome as a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by involuntary movements and/or sounds called tics. A celebrity’s account can explain that person’s experience, but it cannot establish how Tourette syndrome presents for everyone.
Billie Eilish: suppressing visible tics during interviews
What she said
In an interview with Amy Poehler, reported by The Guardian on May 6, 2026, Eilish described suppressing visible tics during interviews. She said: “I’m really doing this the whole time – as much fun as I’m having – I’m doing everything I can to suppress every single tic that’s visible, from the top of my head to [my waist].” She also discussed public misunderstanding of tic attacks.
What her account does—and does not—tell us
Eilish’s description illustrates that tics may be less visible in a particular setting when someone is suppressing them. It is her reported experience, not a universal rule or a way to infer what another person is experiencing.

Lewis Capaldi: explaining movements people misread
What he said
Capaldi discussed his diagnosis publicly in 2022. In a September 2022 Instagram livestream, he disclosed it; NPR later reported that he wanted to address assumptions about his movements. In NPR’s 2023 report, he was quoted saying: “I wanted to speak about it because I didn’t want people to think I was taking cocaine or something.”
In an interview with The Guardian, Capaldi described shoulder twitches that varied with excitement, happiness, nervousness, and stress. His account makes clear why he chose to explain his diagnosis: he did not want people to mistake his movements for drug use.

In January 2024, the Tourette Association of America reported that Capaldi said time spent focusing on his health after pausing performances had improved his management of Tourette syndrome and anxiety. That is the association’s account of his announcement, not a current update on his health.

A UK charity report describes eight celebrities taking part in a Tourette awareness video, but does not say that those participants have Tourette syndrome. Participation in an awareness campaign is not confirmation of a diagnosis or a personal disclosure. The available sources substantiate Eilish and Capaldi as people who have discussed their own Tourette syndrome; they do not substantiate six more names for a list of eight.

That distinction matters: a responsible profile should identify people who have spoken about their own diagnosis, rather than infer one from a campaign appearance, a visible movement, or an online list. Neither Eilish’s nor Capaldi’s individual experience should be treated as representative of everyone with Tourette syndrome.
