There isn’t enough verified, consistently comparable IMDb data here to publish a trustworthy top 10 ranked by user rating. IMDb’s “Christmas 1990s” community list has 17 entries, but its displayed order is not a rating ranking; IMDb’s holiday-family chart ranks popularity across multiple decades. Treating either as the decade’s rating-based top ten would misstate what IMDb shows.
Why IMDb’s lists do not establish a top 10 by rating
IMDb’s “Christmas 1990s” community list includes 17 titles, but the available excerpt shows list order, not a sort by user rating. A list’s title and sequence are not evidence that its entries are ranked by their scores.
IMDb’s “100 most popular holiday family movies” is a popularity chart spanning several decades, not a rating chart limited to films released in the 1990s. It answers a different question.
What the available ratings show
IMDb’s list excerpt reports Home Alone (1990) at 7.8 and The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) at 7.9. A separate IMDb ratings page reports The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992) at 7.8/10. These are point-in-time figures, not a complete set of eligible 1990s Christmas films sorted on the same basis. IMDb describes its score as weighted, and the ratings can change as users vote.

Those examples are not enough to establish ten places or their order. Filling the missing ranks with titles from other roundups would not make the result an IMDb ranking.
What a defensible ranking would need
A proper rating-based list would define its scope, gather the IMDb rating and vote count for every eligible title, sort the candidates consistently, and date-stamp the figures. The eligibility rules matter: should Christmas be central to the plot, or merely part of the setting? Should television films count alongside theatrical releases? Should a film with both Halloween and Christmas identities, such as The Nightmare Before Christmas, qualify?
Rank #2
- Christmas on Duty - After a snowstorm prevents all the presents from being delivered to base, two rival marines must team up for a special mission…to save Christmas. Stars Janel Parrish, Parker Young, and Peter Jacobson.
- The Christmas Cup - Marine Kelly leads her hometown team in the Christmas Cup against the neighboring town with help from Fireman Quinn. That is until he becomes the competition. Starring Rhiannon Fish and Ben Rosenbaum.
IMDb scores reflect user submissions rather than critic reviews or a fixed historical measure. A ranking should therefore be presented as a snapshot taken on a stated date, not as a permanent verdict on the decade’s films.
