CBS canceled CSI: Vegas and So Help Me Todd on April 19, 2024. The decision ended the crime franchise revival after three seasons and the legal dramedy after two; each show’s May 2024 finale became its series finale. Contemporary reporting described both as solid performers, pointing instead to limited room on a crowded schedule—not confirmed poor ratings—as the reported explanation.
Which CBS shows were canceled?
The canceled shows were CSI: Vegas, a revival in the CSI franchise, and So Help Me Todd, a legal dramedy about a private investigator working for his mother’s law firm. Variety’s Joe Otterson reported the decision on April 19, 2024: “Both ‘So Help Me Todd’ and ‘CSI: Vegas’ have been canceled at CBS, Variety has learned.” That was a report of the cancellation, not a statement from a CBS executive.

How many seasons did they have, and when did they end?
At the time CBS announced the cancellations, CSI: Vegas was airing its third season and So Help Me Todd its second. Both were scheduled to conclude in May 2024, and those planned finales became the shows’ series finales, Variety reported.
| Show | Format | Season airing when canceled | Reported average viewership |
|---|---|---|---|
| CSI: Vegas | Crime procedural; CSI franchise revival | Season 3 | 7.6 million viewers per episode, Variety’s reported multiplatform Live+35 average in 2024. |
| So Help Me Todd | Legal dramedy | Season 2 | 7.7 million viewers per episode, Variety’s reported multiplatform Live+35 average in 2024. |
Live+35 is a multiplatform viewing measure that includes viewing beyond the initial broadcast window. These figures offer context, but the small difference between the reported averages does not establish why CBS chose to cancel either show.

Why did CBS cancel them?
Deadline reported that CBS did not have enough room on its schedule to bring the two programs back, describing them as solid ratings performers amid a crowded slate. The network’s official 2024–25 schedule included new series such as NCIS: Origins, Matlock, and Watson. That lineup confirms that new shows were coming, but CBS’s schedule announcement does not itself say that adding those programs was the specific reason for these cancellations.
The careful answer is therefore that schedule capacity was the explanation reported by Deadline, while the available reporting does not establish a direct CBS statement giving a specific reason. The reported audience averages also do not support reducing the decision to “poor ratings.”
