What role does Jason Momoa play?
Apple’s opening-episode synopsis centers on Kaʻiana, who returns to Maui and must decide whether to join King Kahekili in war. That establishes the central conflict, but the official cast information available here does not provide a verified performer-to-character roster. It therefore does not establish which actor plays Kaʻiana or King Kahekili, and the rest of the cast should not be assigned roles by guesswork. Apple’s series and episode listing gives the opening premise.

How does Hawaiian language feature in the series?
The Associated Press reported on October 18, 2025, that Hawaiian-language coach Kahoʻokahi Kanuha worked with Momoa on pronunciation and lines, and that other actors also worked with coaches. AP described the first two episodes as mostly in Hawaiian, with the language becoming less prominent later as the story moves beyond Hawai‘i. This reports on the production’s language work; it does not establish that every cast member is fluent.
AP also noted that language experts saw potential for the series to renew interest in Hawaiian while considering the result imperfect. The article said it was too early to quantify any effect. Read the Associated Press report for more on the coaching and cultural context.
