But the trailer’s most intriguing mystery is why Isaiah Bradley attacks him—and it does not provide a confirmed answer. Here’s what the trailer and official film materials establish, and what remains speculation.
What is the trailer setting up?
Captain America: Brave New World is a Sam Wilson story, with Anthony Mackie playing the new Captain America. The official Marvel and Disney film pages identify Mackie as a star of the film, while Disney’s press kit lists the cast and credits: Marvel’s film page, Disney’s film page, and Disney’s press kit.
The trailer places Sam in a political conflict involving Thaddeus Ross, now president. That White House setting raises the stakes for the story, but it is not evidence that the film is intended as a direct allegory for real-world politics.
10 details and reveals in the trailer
1. Thaddeus Ross is president
Ross has moved from his former role as a general into the presidency. Disney’s official film page identifies Harrison Ford as President Thaddeus Ross, and the trailer uses that office to frame Sam’s dealings with him.

- As he takes on the mantle of Captain America, Sam Wilson soon finds himself in the middle of an international incident. In a race against time, Sam must unravel a nefarious global plot before the true mastermind has the entire world seeing red. Warning: Some flashing-lights scenes in this film may affect photosensitive viewers.
2. Sam Wilson, not Steve Rogers, is the Captain America at the center
Anthony Mackie leads the film as Sam Wilson. The trailer presents a new chapter for the character rather than framing the story as Steve Rogers’s return. Marvel’s official film page provides the film’s central cast information.
3. The conflict reaches the White House
The presidential setting makes the clash between Sam and Ross more than a personal disagreement: it puts Captain America in direct contact with the country’s head of state. The trailer establishes that political context, but it does not confirm a broader political message.

4. Isaiah Bradley attacks Ross
One of the trailer’s sharpest turns is Isaiah Bradley, played by Carl Lumbly, attacking the president. The attack is shown; its motive and the full chain of events behind it are not established by the trailer coverage. Treat explanations of why Bradley acts as theories, not confirmed plot facts. Den of Geek’s trailer breakdown also distinguishes the striking moment from the unanswered question behind it.
5. Samuel Sterns and the Leader are teased
The trailer points toward Samuel Sterns, played by Tim Blake Nelson, a character associated with the Leader. That is a tease connecting the film to an earlier MCU character; it is not enough to establish every detail of the Leader’s role or the plot behind the teaser. Disney’s press kit lists Nelson among the cast.

- Steve Rogers wields the shield in Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War. Then it?s Sam Wilson who unleashes his wings and takes up the mantle in Captain America: Brave New World. Join them as they fight evil global forces with this action-packed 4-movie set.
6. Familiar MCU characters return
The press kit also lists Liv Tyler and Carl Lumbly, alongside Nelson. Their presence supports the film’s continuity with earlier MCU stories, but a cast list alone does not confirm what each character does in the film.
7. Some apparent comic-book connections are unconfirmed
Trailer breakdowns may suggest that a character resembles a comic-book figure, but resemblance is not confirmation. Den of Geek specifically notes that there is no official word identifying a possible Leila Taylor connection. Treat that identification as speculation unless an official source confirms it.

8. The trailer sells action as well as political tension
The official trailer is the best source for the visual sequence itself: Disney’s official trailer. The available film materials establish the broad cast and premise, not a complete, authoritative shot-by-shot account. Avoid treating a fan breakdown’s interpretation of a brief image as confirmed story detail.
9. Red Hulk is the headline reveal
Ross’s transformation into Red Hulk is the trailer’s major character reveal. Disney’s official page identifies Harrison Ford as President Thaddeus Ross/Red Hulk, making the identity clear. The trailer’s reveal does not, by itself, settle exactly when or why Ross transforms.

10. The central mystery is still Bradley’s attack
The trailer leaves viewers with a consequential unanswered question: why does Isaiah Bradley attack Ross? The trailer coverage cited here does not establish the cause or Bradley’s motive. Keeping that uncertainty intact is more accurate than presenting a theory as an answer.
