Yes, conditionally. An India-based creator can earn from an eligible YouTube live stream after qualifying for the relevant YouTube Partner Program (YPP) features, passing YouTube’s channel review, and enabling the required monetization options. But running a podcast continuously does not guarantee ads or income—and a stream longer than 12 hours may not be archived, which can also affect whether its watch time counts toward YPP eligibility.
Which YouTube monetization routes are available?
YouTube has an early YPP eligibility tier and a higher threshold for ad and YouTube Premium revenue. India is included in the expanded YPP. Meeting a threshold makes a channel eligible to apply; it does not guarantee acceptance. YouTube reviews the channel and feature-specific conditions may also apply.
| Route | Eligibility threshold | What it can unlock |
|---|---|---|
| Early YPP access | 500 subscribers, three valid public uploads in the previous 90 days, and either 3,000 qualified public watch hours in the previous 12 months or 3 million qualified public Shorts views in the previous 90 days. See YouTube’s expanded YPP guidance for India. | Eligible fan-funding and Shopping features, such as memberships, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and Super Thanks, subject to each feature’s requirements. |
| Full ad and YouTube Premium revenue | 1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 qualified public watch hours in the previous 12 months or 10 million qualified public Shorts views in the previous 90 days. See YouTube’s YPP eligibility guidance. | Potential ad and YouTube Premium revenue, including for eligible live streams, after review and the required setup. |
These are eligibility thresholds, not an estimate of earnings. YouTube does not provide a fixed India-specific payout for a continuous podcast stream in the cited guidance, and an eligible ad slot does not mean an ad will necessarily serve.
What must be enabled to earn from live-stream ads?
For ad and YouTube Premium revenue from a live stream viewed on the Watch Page or embedded in YouTube’s player, the channel must be accepted into the relevant YPP tier and accept the Watch Page Monetization Module. Monetization must also be enabled on the individual live stream. YouTube decides whether ads appear, balancing viewer experience, creator earnings, and advertiser values; ad delivery is not guaranteed.

YouTube lists ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and channel memberships as possible live-stream revenue features. Their availability and conditions can vary by feature, location, age, channel status, and applicable module. Consult YouTube’s live-stream monetization guidance and the feature requirements before relying on a particular route.
Do continuous-stream watch hours count toward YPP?
They count toward the public-watch-hours route only when the livestream is public and converted to a VOD (video on demand). Hours from unlisted or deleted streams, or streams that are not converted to VOD, do not count toward the 4,000-hour threshold, according to YouTube’s YPP eligibility rules.

The 12-hour archive risk
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” A continuous broadcast can therefore leave you without a complete public VOD even if viewers watched it live. YouTube recommends keeping a local recording backup; see Archive live streams.
Plan around that limit rather than assuming a single uninterrupted broadcast will become a usable archive. If qualifying public watch hours matter to your application, check that each broadcast ends up as a public VOD. A local recording is a useful backup, but it does not change YouTube’s rule that the qualifying hours must come from eligible public streams converted to VOD.

Can a podcast loop pass YouTube’s monetization review?
There is no blanket assurance that a continuous podcast, replay, or loop will be monetized. YouTube’s channel monetization policies apply to live streams and assess content at the channel level. Its July 15, 2025 policy update clarified that repetitive or mass-produced content falls under the “inauthentic content” policy; reused content is a separate review area. See YouTube’s channel monetization policies.
Make the programming materially distinct and valuable rather than assuming that repeating the same recording continuously will pass review. Consider whether each episode adds original commentary, reporting, context, or other meaningful value, and make sure you have rights to the material you use. These are prudent ways to address the policy concerns; they are not a prediction of how YouTube will decide on a specific channel.

Practical checklist before you rely on a 24/7 stream
- Confirm that your country, channel, and intended features meet the applicable YPP requirements; thresholds alone do not ensure approval.
- For full ad and YouTube Premium revenue, accept the Watch Page Monetization Module and enable monetization on the live stream.
- Keep broadcasts public and verify that YouTube converts them to VOD if you need their hours to count toward the public-watch-hours route.
- Do not assume YouTube will capture a broadcast that runs longer than 12 hours; keep a local recording backup.
- Review the channel for repetitive or reused material and make the value and originality of the programming clear.
- Do not budget around a guaranteed number of ads or a fixed income: YouTube controls ad delivery, and eligibility does not predict earnings.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your podcast is a prerecorded program for YouTube, StreamNeo can keep uploaded video looping from the cloud: upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams the uploaded file as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, and it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo handles the stream, not YPP approval, monetization eligibility, archive limits, or content-policy review.
