To fix buffering in a 24/7 YouTube music radio stream, first find out who is affected: one listener, several listeners on the same network, or listeners on unrelated networks. Then check the stream’s health in YouTube Live Control Room, inspect the encoder and local recording, and test the broadcaster’s upload connection. Each points to a different fix; changing settings at random can make the stream less reliable.
First, work out where the buffering starts
Ask affected listeners whether they are using the same internet connection. Combine their reports with the stream status in Live Control Room; neither one alone proves the cause.
- One listener: YouTube says a single viewer’s playback error is likely related to that viewer’s computer or internet connection. Have them try another device or connection and lower playback quality manually.
- Several listeners on one network: Investigate that shared network, including its Wi-Fi signal, interference, and competing traffic.
- Listeners on different networks: Check the stream being sent to YouTube, the encoder and source, and the broadcaster’s outbound connection. Reports across unrelated connections can point to an encoder issue.
YouTube’s general live-stream and playback guidance does not specify a separate configuration for 24/7 music radio. Diagnose the actual stream rather than assuming that continuous broadcasts have one special cause or preset.
Check YouTube’s stream health and error messages
Open the stream in YouTube Live Control Room and review its health indicator and timestamped messages. YouTube identifies critical and moderate stream errors and provides instructions for the reported issue. Work from those messages instead of changing bitrate, codec, or other settings without evidence.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
If the dashboard reports a problem, check the relevant encoder output, including:
- Format and codec
- Bitrate
- Audio stream count and channel configuration
- Video settings and resolution
- Keyframe frequency
YouTube’s Live streaming error messages page notes: “Currently, keyframes are not being sent often enough, which can cause buffering.” If that message appears, correct the keyframe setting in the encoder and confirm that YouTube’s stream-health message clears. Do not treat every buffering report as a keyframe problem.

Inspect the encoder, source, and local recording
Before changing the stream configuration, compare the encoder preview with what listeners report. Check for encoder errors and high CPU load, and play back the local archive if one is available. A problem visible in the preview or recording points toward the encoder or source rather than a listener’s connection.
- Update the encoder software if it is out of date.
- Check the preview, encoder error messages, and CPU load while the stream is running.
- Review the local recording for audio dropouts, glitches, or other defects.
- For an audio-led radio stream, confirm that the continuous audio source and playlist are still producing clean output. This is an operational check, not a special YouTube requirement for 24/7 streams.
- If problems remain despite a healthy-looking preview and source, YouTube suggests considering another encoder.

Test the broadcaster’s outbound connection
If the encoder preview and local recording are healthy, investigate the internet connection carrying the stream to YouTube. Check both its capacity and reliability, and contact your internet service provider if the connection is unstable. A speed test is useful evidence, but a single result cannot establish that a connection will remain reliable over a full day.
- Choose a stream quality that the available upload connection can sustain reliably.
- Test the complete setup before relying on it for a live run.
- If testing shows that Wi-Fi is the weak link, a wired Ethernet connection may help if the streaming device supports it. It will not fix encoder errors, inadequate ISP service, an ingest problem at YouTube, or a viewer-side fault.
YouTube’s live streaming troubleshooting guidance recommends addressing connection issues with the internet service provider. It does not establish a universal upload-speed threshold for every stream, so use the dashboard, the chosen quality, and sustained connection tests rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all number.

Help listeners with playback-side buffering
When the stream itself appears healthy and the problem is limited to one listener or a shared viewer network, reduce playback-side demand before changing the broadcast settings.
- Try another internet connection or device.
- Manually select a lower playback quality.
- Restart the app or browser.
- On Wi-Fi, move closer to the router and reduce interference or competing network use.
These steps address playback conditions; they do not correct an encoder or broadcaster upload fault.

Choose stability over the shortest delay when appropriate
For a music stream that does not depend on immediate audience interaction, uninterrupted listening may matter more than near-real-time playback. YouTube warns that “Lower latency may mean more playback buffering.” Its live stream settings guidance explains the tradeoff: lower delay leaves the player less buffer to absorb interruptions. Consider the default delay if stability is the priority.
Keep monitoring after the fix
Test the selected settings before going live, then keep an eye on Live Control Room’s stream health during the broadcast. If buffering returns, note when it happens and compare that time with dashboard messages, encoder errors, CPU load, and the local recording. A timestamped clue is more useful than repeatedly changing several settings at once.
Or let it run in the cloud
For a pre-recorded YouTube music stream, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos or playlists from the cloud, so no computer, OBS, or home connection has to stay on. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting from a camera, and it streams to YouTube only.
Every slot includes one always-on stream, 24/7 looping and playlists, 10 GB of storage per slot pooled across active slots, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and support from the StreamNeo team. The upload streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, with no re-encode and no quality tiers. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month.
