What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Yes. An Indian creator can use a cloud encoder to send prerecorded video to YouTube as a live stream. YouTube’s verified encoder list specifically describes Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 prerecorded YouTube streaming, though that listing is not a recommendation and does not confirm current India availability or pricing. A StreamNeo slot is another YouTube-only cloud option: upload a video or build a playlist, add your stream key, and go live from the cloud. The video can loop while your computer is off.
Does a YouTube live stream have to be filmed live?
No. A live stream can carry prerecorded video sent through an encoder, rather than footage captured by a camera at that moment. YouTube’s verified encoder documentation expressly describes Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 streaming of prerecorded videos on YouTube: YouTube’s encoder list. That establishes the use case, not a guarantee about a provider’s current features, availability in India, or commercial terms.
Cloud encoding means the service sends the video stream to YouTube from its infrastructure. YouTube describes cloud encoders as a way to send one high-quality stream for distribution to selected channels, resolutions, or platforms; they can reduce the work done by a creator’s own computer, but commonly involve a subscription. See YouTube’s overview of live encoders.
What you need before starting
- An eligible channel: YouTube requires the channel to be verified, have no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days, and be operated by a creator aged 16 or older. First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours. Check YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
- A cloud encoder that fits the job: confirm that the provider supports prerecorded playback, the intended stream duration and any scheduling or restart needs. For Indian creators, verify service availability, billing and applicable taxes directly with the provider; YouTube’s documentation does not establish those provider-specific details.
- A YouTube stream URL and key: create or schedule a broadcast in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, then enter its connection details in the encoder. Treat the key as a password: anyone who has it may be able to send a stream to your broadcast.
- Rights to every part of the video: prerecorded status does not exempt a stream from YouTube’s rules. You must have the rights needed for worldwide use, including applicable music rights, and follow Community Guidelines and the applicable terms.
Set up a prerecorded cloud stream
- Enable live streaming. Verify your channel and check its eligibility in YouTube Studio. If this is the channel’s first live stream, allow up to 24 hours for activation.
- Create or schedule the YouTube broadcast. Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and create a stream. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that broadcast. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance is at Set up your encoder for live streaming.
- Add the connection details to the cloud encoder. In the provider’s setup screen, enter the YouTube URL and key. Keep the key private; if it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Choose the prerecorded video or playlist. Configure playback and any schedule using the provider’s instructions. Check the provider’s duration limits, looping behavior and what happens after a restart or interruption rather than assuming a single broadcast will run indefinitely.
- Preview, then start the stream. Check the preview in Live Control Room before going live. Monitor both picture and sound after it starts, especially when switching videos or playlists.
- Confirm rights and policy compliance. Review the full video and audio, including music, for permissions and YouTube policy issues before scheduling. A cloud host does not take over the creator’s responsibility.
Choose between cloud and local encoding
YouTube documents both cloud services and local software or hardware encoders. The right fit depends on who should run the encoding, how much control you need and whether continuous prerecorded playback is central to the project.

| Approach | What it offers | Trade-off to check |
|---|---|---|
| Cloud encoder | The service sends the stream, so the creator’s computer can do less work. YouTube characterizes cloud services as easier to set up and lighter on the computer. | Check subscription cost, India availability and billing, supported stream duration, scheduling, playback and recovery behavior. |
| Local hardware or software encoder | Encoding runs on equipment you control; YouTube says local encoding offers more direct control and may suit creators with powerful computers. | Your setup must remain capable of encoding and sending the stream, and you must manage its reliability and connection yourself. |
For 24/7 prerecorded playback, YouTube’s verified encoder list specifically identifies Gyre for that use case. Restream appears on the list as a cloud studio for multi-platform distribution, guests, overlays and video playback, but the cited documentation does not establish that it supports the same 24/7 prerecorded workflow. Confirm current features before choosing either service; they should not be treated as interchangeable.
Keep the stream compliant and dependable
Copyright and channel rules
Check rights for every video and audio component, especially music. YouTube’s livestream terms require the creator to hold the necessary rights for worldwide use, and live content must comply with Community Guidelines and applicable terms. Read YouTube’s terms alongside its live-streaming guidance. Using a cloud encoder changes where the stream is sent from, not who is responsible for the content.

Archiving and long-running broadcasts
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. For a longer continuous service, confirm how the provider handles scheduling, restarts and recovery; do not assume one broadcast will remain live indefinitely. YouTube’s streaming tips recommend 20% bandwidth headroom for a stable connection, a recommendation for the sending setup rather than a measured guarantee: YouTube live streaming tips.

Troubleshooting common problems
- You cannot start a broadcast: check channel verification, age eligibility and whether the channel has a live-streaming restriction. If this is the first activation, allow up to 24 hours.
- YouTube does not receive the encoder: confirm that you copied the URL and key for the correct broadcast, that they were entered accurately, and that the broadcast is active in Live Control Room. If the key may have been exposed, replace it and update the encoder.
- The preview has no sound or the wrong video: verify the selected file or playlist and inspect audio and picture in the preview before going live. Check again after playback changes.
- The stream stops during a long run: check the provider’s duration and restart behavior, and whether it can recover after YouTube drops the connection. YouTube’s automatic archive guidance covers streams under 12 hours; it is not a promise of indefinite continuous broadcasting.
- A video triggers a rights or policy issue: review the affected footage and audio, including music, and confirm worldwide-use rights. A cloud service cannot grant rights or override YouTube’s rules.
- The service or billing is unavailable in your region: confirm current India availability, payment methods, taxes and plan terms with the provider before relying on it. YouTube’s encoder listing alone does not settle those questions.
