If CameraFi Live cannot see a video saved on your Android phone, check its media permission first: open Settings > Apps > CameraFi Live > Permissions and allow the available photos, videos, files, or storage access. Then reopen CameraFi Live and select Video from its swipe menu. Permission names and file access can vary by Android version, so the exact label may differ on your phone.
Allow CameraFi Live to access media
- Leave CameraFi Live and open Android Settings.
- Tap Apps, select CameraFi Live, then tap Permissions. If the app is not shown, open the full app list. Android documents this general route in its app permissions help.
- If media access is denied, allow the relevant category. Depending on your Android version and device interface, it may be called Photos and videos, Files, or, on older devices or app builds, Storage.
- Return to CameraFi Live. On the main screen, swipe to open the menu and tap Video to choose a video source, as shown in CameraFi’s Android beginner guide.
CameraFi Live’s Google Play listing names READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE and describes its purpose as “To get photos.” That listing does not establish that every current Android phone will show that exact permission or use the same access method. Android media rules vary by OS version and access method.
If the video still does not appear
- Check that it is on the phone. Find the clip in the device’s file manager or gallery. If it is not visible there, confirm that it has finished downloading or copying to local storage.
- Reopen CameraFi Live and check Video again. This is a practical next check after confirming the file is locally visible; the available documentation does not guarantee that a particular folder, extension, or codec will be listed.
- Review the permission once more. If the relevant access is already allowed and the local file remains missing, the cause may be specific to the app or device. The available documentation does not establish CameraFi Live’s complete format support, folder-scanning behavior, cloud-media handling, or exact picker implementation across Android versions.
Android’s media-access guidance explains that behavior depends on Android version and on whether media belongs to the app or was created by another app. Google Play policy also encourages system photo and video pickers for one-time or infrequent access, rather than broad media permissions. Neither source identifies the exact implementation used by every CameraFi Live release. See Android Developers’ shared-media guidance and Google Play’s Photo and Video Permissions policy.
When to contact CameraFi support
If CameraFi Live has the relevant permission and the clip is visible locally but is still absent from the Video source, consult the CameraFi tutorials and FAQ or email [email protected]. Include your phone model, Android version, CameraFi Live version, where the file is saved, and what appears in the app; these details can help explain the problem.
