To check what viewers can see and hear, keep Larix Broadcaster running on your streaming phone and open the live event’s YouTube watch page on a second device. Check the picture and sound there: a connection indicator on the streaming phone alone does not confirm that the audience-facing playback is working as intended.
Monitor the live playback on a second device
- Start the Larix broadcast. Send the stream to the intended YouTube Live destination using the current connection details for that event. Larix Broadcaster’s Android listing names YouTube Live as a destination and RTMP/RTMPS among its supported protocols. Follow the current Larix and YouTube setup guidance for your account and event; the exact connection steps can depend on your setup.
- Open the event’s watch page elsewhere. On a separate phone, tablet, or computer, open the public or unlisted YouTube watch page, as appropriate for the event’s visibility. Confirm that video appears and that the audio is audible.
- Check the broadcaster and platform status too. Look at Larix’s state and any YouTube stream-health information available to you. These diagnostics can help identify a problem with sending or ingest, while the separate watch page lets you check the viewer-facing result. Interface labels and placement can change, so use the current YouTube interface rather than relying on an old pixel-by-pixel walkthrough.
Keep the second device’s volume low or use headphones if its sound could reach the streaming phone’s microphone. That helps avoid monitoring audio feeding back into the broadcast.
What the second-device check can tell you
Watching the actual YouTube playback can confirm whether picture and sound are reaching a viewer-facing page. It is a practical confidence check, not a diagnosis of the underlying cause. If playback is missing or wrong, possible areas to investigate include Larix configuration, network conditions, YouTube ingest, event visibility, and playback. Check available encoder and platform diagnostics rather than assuming the fault is in one place.
Do not treat a successful connection state on the streaming phone as proof that the playback looks and sounds right. Conversely, a problem on the watch page does not, by itself, establish whether the cause is the encoder, the network, YouTube, or the viewer’s playback path.

Choose the monitoring method for the question you have

A spare phone, tablet, or computer is enough for the second-screen role; there is no need to buy a particular model just to do this check.
Troubleshoot what you see or hear
- The watch page shows no video: Check that you opened the correct event and that its visibility allows you to view it. Then inspect Larix’s sending state and the YouTube stream-health information available in your account. The watch-page symptom alone does not identify the cause.
- Video appears but sound is missing or wrong: Listen on the second device and check the audio path and settings on the streaming phone. A user review describes monitoring on another device to hear the result of an external audio connection; that is an individual account, not a universal troubleshooting rule.
- You cannot tell whether the issue is at the encoder or on YouTube: Compare what Larix reports with the platform’s available stream-health information and the watch-page playback. These checks observe different parts of the route; none alone guarantees the complete viewer experience.
- The second device causes unwanted audio feedback: Lower its volume or use headphones, and keep it positioned so its speaker is not feeding into the streaming phone’s microphone.
