Luke Thompson’s second Bridgerton son becomes the center of the romance after meeting Yerin Ha’s Sophie Baek at Violet Bridgerton’s masquerade ball. Sophie is disguised as the mysterious Lady in Silver, and Benedict does not initially know that she is a maid.
All eight episodes are now streaming on Netflix. Part 1 premiered on January 29, 2026, Part 2 arrived on February 26, and Netflix lists the complete season as available from August 12, 2026. This guide begins with a spoiler-light cast overview, then explains the supporting characters and ends with a clearly marked full-season spoiler section.
Season 4 at a glance
The fourth season adapts Julia Quinn’s third Bridgerton novel, An Offer from a Gentleman. It keeps the story’s Cinderella-influenced setup but reworks Sophie as a resourceful, resilient character with a strong moral compass rather than a passive damsel. Benedict’s resistance to conventional commitment is tested by his attraction to the Lady in Silver and by the question of whether he can reconcile the separate parts of his life.
Netflix’s official season 4 announcement and cast coverage confirms the two-part release schedule, while its character guide provides the principal biographies and returning-cast details.

The central romance: Benedict Bridgerton and Sophie Baek
Luke Thompson as Benedict Bridgerton
Benedict is the second Bridgerton son and one of the family’s more artistically inclined, bohemian figures. Unlike Anthony and Colin, he has generally appeared less interested in treating marriage as the inevitable destination of his social life. Season 4 turns that reluctance into the central conflict of his character.
At Violet’s masquerade, Benedict meets the woman he knows only as the Lady in Silver. The encounter is immediate and important, but the mystery surrounding her identity creates the season’s central divide: Benedict is drawn to a woman from the ballroom while remaining unaware of Sophie’s position below stairs. His story asks whether a man who values freedom and unconventional living can accept a relationship that requires him to bring those two worlds together.
Yerin Ha as Sophie Baek
Sophie has spent much of her life working as a maid for a demanding employer. Her circumstances limit her choices, but they do not define her character. Netflix’s description emphasizes her resilience, resourcefulness, perseverance and moral compass.
Her brief escape into the masquerade changes the direction of her life. As the Lady in Silver, she can meet Benedict on more equal social terms, at least for one night. The disguise also gives the romance its primary dramatic problem: Benedict falls for a mysterious masked woman without understanding who she is or how precarious her position has become.

Ruth Gemmell as Violet Bridgerton
Violet is the Bridgerton matriarch and the host of the masquerade where Benedict first encounters the Lady in Silver. Her role in season 4 is not limited to helping launch the principal romance. The season also develops her relationship with Lord Marcus Anderson, a widower who approaches the connection at a pace Violet finds comfortable.
Jonathan Bailey as Anthony Bridgerton and Simone Ashley as Kate Bridgerton
Anthony, the eldest Bridgerton sibling, returns with Kate, his wife. Their presence keeps the family’s established romantic history in the ensemble while the narrative moves to Benedict. Anthony is also particularly close to Gregory and has taken on a partly paternal role with his youngest brother.
Luke Newton as Colin Bridgerton and Nicola Coughlan as Penelope Bridgerton
Colin and Penelope are now married and have become parents to a son, Elliot. The child’s birth changes the Featherington succession: Elliot becomes the new Lord Featherington.
Penelope, formerly Penelope Featherington, is also learning how to live in public after being unmasked as Lady Whistledown. Her marriage to Colin brings her greater visibility, while her changing relationship with Queen Charlotte reflects the consequences of that revelation.
Claudia Jessie as Eloise Bridgerton
Eloise remains bookish, freedom-seeking and resistant to the expectations of the marriage mart. She is entering her third season in that social environment, although she claims to have escaped its pressure by being on the shelf
. Her connection to Francesca’s household becomes especially important as the season progresses.

Hannah Dodd as Francesca Stirling
Francesca is practical and introverted. She is married to John Stirling, and their relationship is defined by a quiet, highly intuitive compatibility rather than the more openly combative or theatrical courtships seen elsewhere in the series.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Will Tilston as Gregory Bridgerton
Gregory is the youngest Bridgerton son. He is particularly close to Anthony, whose older-brother support has taken on a partly paternal quality. Gregory’s attention begins to turn toward the marriage mart when he notices Miss Rochelle.
Florence Hunt as Hyacinth Bridgerton
Hyacinth is the youngest member of the family. She never met her father and dreams of finding the kind of lasting romance that her older siblings have experienced. Her practice ball provides one of the season’s smaller introductions to the next generation of Ton relationships.
Francesca’s household and the season 5 connection
Victor Alli as John Stirling, Earl of Kilmartin
John is Francesca’s husband and Michaela’s cousin. Before the season’s later developments, the show establishes John and Francesca as a deeply compatible couple whose communication is often quiet and intuitive.
Masali Baduza as Michaela Stirling
Michaela is John’s cousin: independent, bold and confident, and extremely close to him. She travels with John, Francesca and Eloise to Scotland. Her role is important beyond the immediate season because Netflix has confirmed that Francesca and Michaela will lead season 5, scheduled for 2027. That season will present the series’ first same-gender central love story.
This is an adaptation change readers should understand clearly. The show’s character is Michaela, not Michael; Netflix’s season 5 coverage identifies Francesca and Michaela as the future central couple. That confirmed continuation is useful context, but it is not the main focus of season 4, which belongs to Benedict and Sophie.
The Ton and the royal household
Golda Rosheuvel as Queen Charlotte
Queen Charlotte remains the monarch presiding over England and its high society. Her relationship with Lady Whistledown changes after Penelope’s identity is revealed, giving the Queen’s continuing appearances a different context from the earlier seasons.
Hugh Sachs as Brimsley
Brimsley is Queen Charlotte’s loyal right-hand man, a position he has held since her arrival in England. He continues to function as the Queen’s closest attendant and a key observer of the Ton’s movements.
Adjoa Andoh as Lady Agatha Danbury
Lady Danbury is a widowed grand dame of the Ton, the mother of four, a confidante of the Queen and one of Violet’s closest friends. She also helps connect the established aristocratic world to newcomers who are learning how to operate within it.
Daniel Francis as Lord Marcus Anderson
Marcus is a widower and Violet’s romantic counterpart. His courtship of Violet proceeds cautiously and at a pace she finds comfortable, giving the season a mature relationship alongside Benedict and Sophie’s more socially complicated romance.

The Li family, the Penwoods and new marriage-mart figures
Katie Leung as Lady Araminta Gun
Lady Araminta has been married and widowed twice. She enters the marriage mart with two daughters and is blunt, socially discerning and fiercely protective of her family’s standing. Her judgment and expectations create pressure within her household.
Michelle Mao as Rosamund Li
Rosamund is Araminta’s older daughter. She is described as beautiful, vain and eager to please, and she is determined to pursue Benedict.
Isabella Wei as Posy Li
Posy is Rosamund’s younger sister. She is the kinder and more sociable underdog of the family, but Araminta’s criticism has damaged her confidence. The contrast between the sisters gives the Li household a different kind of family tension from the Bridgertons’ support system.
Jessica Madsen as Cressida, Lady Penwood
Cressida returns in Part 2 after the scandal that affected her in season 3. She now has a new husband and title, putting her back into the Ton’s social orbit while giving the character a changed domestic and social position.
Arthur Lee as Lord Penwood
Lord Penwood is Cressida’s new husband. He is presented as commanding, but also kind and tender, complicating the assumptions other characters may make about him based on his authority.
Zaris-Angel Hator as Miss Rochelle
Miss Rochelle is seen at Hyacinth’s practice ball, where she catches Gregory’s attention. Her appearance adds another younger marriage-mart thread to the season’s wider ensemble.
The Mondrich and Featherington households
Martins Imhangbe as Will Mondrich
Will is a former boxer whose son’s elevation to the barony transforms the family’s place in society. Season 4 continues to follow the Mondrichs as they adjust to the expectations and opportunities that come with their new status.
Emma Naomi as Alice Mondrich
Alice is Will’s wife. She embraces the family’s new position in the Ton and becomes a protégée of Lady Danbury, linking the Mondrich household to one of the series’ most experienced social navigators.
Polly Walker as Lady Portia Featherington
Portia is Penelope’s mother. After the changes in season 3, her relationship with Penelope becomes closer and more respectful. She remains an important presence in the Featherington household as Penelope begins married life and Elliot becomes the new Lord Featherington.
Lorraine Ashbourne as Mrs. Varley
Mrs. Varley is the head of staff at Featherington House and Portia’s longtime confidante. Her position gives her an informed view of the family’s private and public changes.

Sophie’s household and the Bridgerton staff
The season’s downstairs characters are particularly important because Sophie’s story is shaped by the gap between the ballroom and the household where she works. They also show that the series’ social world is not limited to titled families.

Stop here if you want a spoiler-light cast guide. The following section discusses the season-ending death of Lord John Stirling and the continuity it establishes for season 5.
Lord John Stirling dies late in season 4, leaving Francesca widowed. That development changes the meaning of Francesca’s previously quiet and highly compatible marriage and gives Michaela’s connection to the Stirling household greater future importance.

Netflix has confirmed that Francesca and Michaela will be the central couple of season 5, which is scheduled for 2027. The forthcoming season is also set to be the show’s first same-gender central love story. The season 4 ending therefore works both as a major loss for Francesca and as the bridge into the next Bridgerton romance.
