Morgan Elsbeth is a Nightsister drawn toward vengeance; Barriss Offee is a former Jedi trying to survive a rapidly changing galaxy. Those broad trajectories are confirmed by Lucasfilm’s announcement. More detailed readings of individual shots remain inference, not a complete account of either character’s plot.
What the trailer confirms
Lucasfilm revealed the trailer and key art on April 4, 2024, announcing a six-part animated anthology and a follow-up to Tales of the Jedi. The series follows previously untold events in the lives of Morgan Elsbeth and Barriss Offee. Its official framing describes them as warriors on divergent paths through the Galactic Empire: Morgan moves toward vengeance after losing everything, while Barriss does what she must to survive. StarWars.com’s announcement and the official series page establish those arcs, not a scene-by-scene plot summary.
The word “Sithy” works as a playful description of the trailer’s dark Imperial atmosphere, but it should not be taken literally. Morgan is identified as a Nightsister, and Barriss as a former Jedi; the official material does not present either as a Sith.
Morgan Elsbeth: a path toward vengeance
Morgan’s strand begins with loss and points toward revenge. The official trailer announcement describes a young Morgan navigating an expanding Imperial world, while the series synopsis says she has lost everything and is moving toward vengeance. That makes her story a collision between personal grievance and a political order growing around her.

The trailer and key art also name recognizable figures including Thrawn, Darth Vader, the Fourth Sister, the Grand Inquisitor, General Grievous, Wing, and Nightsisters. Their presence confirms that they are part of the series’ announced cast or imagery; it does not, by itself, establish when they appear, what they do, or how Morgan’s story ends.
Barriss Offee: survival after the Jedi
Barriss is presented as a former Jedi facing a galaxy transformed by Imperial power. The official synopsis emphasizes survival rather than spelling out a precise plan or outcome. That distinction matters: a trailer image can suggest danger, pursuit, or a difficult choice, but the available official description supports only the broad premise that she must adapt to a rapidly changing galaxy.

Treat any more specific interpretation of their encounters as speculation unless supported by episode information.
How the two arcs differ
| Question | Morgan Elsbeth | Barriss Offee |
|---|---|---|
| Starting position | A Nightsister who has lost everything, according to the official synopsis. | A former Jedi in a rapidly changing galaxy, according to the official synopsis. |
| Relationship to the Imperial world | The announcement says a young Morgan navigates the expanding Imperial world. | The official description frames her as confronting the changed galaxy and doing what she must to survive. |
| Stated trajectory | Moving toward vengeance. | Trying to survive. |
| What is not established by the trailer announcement | Specific episode events, the role of each named figure, and Morgan’s eventual outcome. | Specific episode events, the precise nature of every threat, and Barriss’s eventual outcome. |
The contrast is not simply villain versus hero. The official framing puts both characters under pressure from the Empire’s rise, but gives them different immediate aims: Morgan’s response is vengeance, while Barriss’s is survival. How those choices shape their eventual destinies is left open by the trailer’s broad premise.
