The announcement describes a launch-era feature, not a confirmed account of how Bing works today.
What Microsoft announced
In its October 3, 2014 Bing Search Blog announcement, Microsoft said users could view full lyrics on the mainline results page without first opening a third-party site. Bing also said its Snapshot panel would show artist, album and other information related to the song.
Microsoft described the goal as making it easier to find lyrics without sorting through links of uncertain quality. At launch, Bing said the catalog contained over half a million songs and that it expected the list to grow in the coming weeks. That was the initial 2014 figure, not a current catalog count.
How the launch-era result worked
Contemporaneous coverage by Search Engine Land described a preview of the lyrics with a “See more” link to reveal the full text. Song and artist details appeared in Snapshot alongside the main results. The report said the feature was appearing in US results, with Bing planning international expansion in the coming months.

A Windows Central how-to from the same period suggested searching for a song title followed by “lyrics.” That article also distinguished Bing’s results from Cortana on Windows Phone, which it said showed only an initial portion of a song’s lyrics at the time.
Who supplied the lyrics?
Search Engine Land reported that Bing identified LyricFind as its lyrics source and told the publication that LyricFind’s license extended to Bing’s display of the lyrics. This licensing detail comes from the outlet’s account of what Bing told it; Microsoft’s announcement itself is the primary source for the feature description and launch catalog figure.

What this says about Bing now
The 2014 announcement and coverage establish what Bing launched and how the experience was described then. They do not establish whether full lyrics are still available in Bing, which regions are supported today, or what the present-day catalog contains. Search Engine Land also noted that some lyrics could be wrong, but did not provide a measured error rate.
