Della sang along, acted out the lyrics and took the microphone to thank the crowd, while Remy waved from the piano. The moment came during Joel’s 150th lifetime performance at the Garden—and the last show of his ten-year monthly residency, not the end of his concert career.
What Della and Remy did during “My Life”
Eight-year-old Della and six-year-old Remy came onstage while Joel performed “My Life.” According to ABC News, Remy sat on the piano and waved as Della sang the words and acted them out. At the end of the song, Della took the microphone to thank the Garden audience. Joel joked, “I guess it’s HER life now!”

Why the concert was a milestone
The July 25, 2024 show concluded Joel’s monthly Madison Square Garden residency, which began in January 2014. It was his 150th lifetime performance at the venue. Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp. said the residency comprised 104 consecutive performances and that more than 1.9 million tickets had been sold to fans from all 50 U.S. states and more than 120 countries. That ticket figure is the venue operator’s reported cumulative total, not an independently audited attendance count. MSG’s July 24, 2024 announcement gives the final-show milestones.
Other moments from the final show
Axl Rose also appeared, performing “Live and Let Die” and “Highway to Hell” with Joel. As the crowd reacted to the residency’s ending, Joel said, “We don’t want to leave either, but it’s time.” He described the ten-year run as “the most amazing gig that we’ve ever done, ever.” ABC News reported the family appearance and Joel’s remarks; The Independent also reported the daughters’ appearance and Rose’s guest performance.

The residency ended, not Joel’s live career
July 25 marked the final performance in Joel’s MSG residency. It should not be described as his final concert overall: the announcements from Madison Square Garden and Joel’s official site identify it as the end of the Garden run.
