Nor is there a meaningful ranking of the looks: the useful context is when and where an image appeared, what the person wore, and whether it was a personal post or a professional shoot.
That framing also avoids treating celebrity imagery as a benchmark for other people. The broader cultural point is simply that age alone need not dictate whether someone chooses a bikini, a one-piece or another kind of beachwear.

The article describes Hurley in a shoot for her Elizabeth Hurley Beach swimwear line. That is a professional context, unlike a personal vacation post, and the line’s mention does not identify a specific swimsuit in any other image.
NewBeauty attributes this quotation to Brooke Shields, who told People: “Wait a minute, women over 50 are not done.” The article also says her daughters encouraged her to wear a bikini when she turned 55. How to read a celebrity swimsuit image accurately
- Match age to image date. A celebrity’s age in a 2023 or 2024 article is historical context, not an evergreen label.
- Identify the garment precisely. A bikini, one-piece, cover-up, crop top and leggings are different looks; a headline may use “bikini” more broadly than an individual image warrants.
- Keep the setting in view. A family holiday, birthday trip, social post, studio image and swimwear shoot are not interchangeable contexts.
- Attribute captions and images carefully. A caption reproduced by an outlet should not be presented as the celebrity’s own words unless the source confirms that attribution.
- Do not infer a brand or endorsement. A general swimsuit description does not establish which label made it, and a celebrity appearing in swimwear does not necessarily endorse a product.
