There is no verified evidence that the viral video named in this headline shows Bigfoot. The exact clip is not identifiable from the accessible reporting, so its location, upload history and subject cannot be confirmed. Several unrelated U.S. videos have also been reported as alleged Bigfoot sightings; they should not be mistaken for the unidentified video.
Which viral Bigfoot video is this?
The exact-title match appears in a search-result feed as a Mashable India article, but the article itself could not be retrieved. That leaves a crucial gap: the clip at the center of the headline cannot be confidently identified. Without the original upload or a retrievable account of it, there is no sound basis for assigning it a location, date, uploader or identity.
In particular, the headline should not be used to imply that the video is one of the better-known clips below. Those are separate claims, with different reported circumstances.
Three separate U.S. videos reported as Bigfoot sightings
Provo Canyon, Utah: a 2012 report
ABC News reported on November 6, 2012, that an anonymous YouTube user who called himself “Beard Card” said he was camping with friends near Squaw Peak and Little Rock Canyon in Provo Canyon the day before Halloween. In the group’s account, they first took the figure for a deer, then a bear, and fled when it stood up. ABC reported that the original video had more than 4.3 million YouTube views at that time; that is a historical count, not a current one. The report describes the claim and the debate around the footage, but does not establish what the figure was. Read ABC News’ 2012 report.

Near Sundance, Utah: a distinct 2014 clip
FOX 13 covered another alleged sighting near Sundance in June 2014. The people who posted it, AnytingWhatever, told the station they recorded it on June 15 at about 11 p.m. while driving the Alpine Loop. They said they noticed the figure only after viewing the recording on a larger screen. FOX 13 presented the footage as a claim and invited viewers to judge it; the report did not authenticate the image. Read FOX 13’s report.
Northeast Ohio: a separate short clip
ABC News also described a 38-second video that HowTo101Channel said was filmed in April near the Grand River in Northeast Ohio. The report noted that details were scarce and described a dark, hairy figure crossing a road. It is another distinct clip, not an identified version of the video in this headline. What would it take to assess the unidentified video?
A dramatic image or a large audience cannot establish that a figure is Bigfoot. A responsible assessment begins by identifying the original footage, then tests what it shows against other explanations. For this headline’s unidentified clip, the necessary details are not established.
- Provenance: Find the original upload and establish who posted it, when, and whether the footage is continuous or has been edited or reposted.
- Claimed circumstances: Check whether a date and location are supported by the uploader’s account or other independent records.
- Image and scale: Assess resolution, lighting, distance, camera movement and any reliable reference objects before drawing conclusions about size or movement.
- Alternative explanations: Consider people in costumes, animals, shadows, distance and other effects that could produce the observed shape.
- Fair comparison: Any technical analysis should make its comparison materials and assumptions clear and allow others to reproduce the reasoning.
A separate Skeptical Inquirer article examining “Memorial Day” footage illustrates why comparison choices matter: it criticizes an analysis that compared the figure with a taller athlete in running clothes rather than a comparable costumed figure. The article reports estimates of 17.1 mph for the athlete and 8.56 mph for the video subject. Those figures concern that separate footage and that article’s account of the comparison; they say nothing about the unidentified video here. Read the Skeptical Inquirer examination.

Why familiar Bigfoot footage does not answer this question
The Patterson-Gimlin film is a separate 1967 recording with a prominent place in Bigfoot lore. PBS’s Monstrum calls it “the most iconic and controversial piece of evidence of the existence of Sasquatch,” describing its historical significance and controversy—not authenticating the video in this headline. Watch PBS Monstrum’s episode.
Likewise, accounts of the Provo Canyon, Sundance-area and Northeast Ohio videos cannot be combined into a single sighting. Similar headlines do not establish that footage shares an uploader, place, date or subject.

What the available evidence supports
The headline’s exact video remains unidentified, and none of the accessible reports verifies that any of these figures is Bigfoot. The 2012 view count shows that one separate clip circulated widely; it is not evidence of the figure’s identity. Until the specific original video and its provenance can be established, claims about its location, authenticity or subject go beyond what is known.
