For most desktop Kick streamers, OBS Studio is the best place to start: Kick documents its setup, and OBS lets you enter Kick’s custom server URL and stream key directly. Streamlabs Desktop is a reasonable alternative if you want to connect your Kick account through an authorization flow. Kick also lists XSplit and MELD as supported applications, but does not rank them. If you do not want a desktop encoder, Kick Web Go Live offers a browser-based option.
This is a comparison of Kick’s documented compatibility and setup paths, not a hands-on performance test. Kick’s official Help Center setup guidance was dated May–July 2026; app interfaces and requirements can change.
What is the best streaming software for Kick?
Choose based on how you want to connect and where you plan to stream from. Kick’s desktop guide lists OBS Studio, XSplit, Streamlabs Desktop, and MELD as supported major streaming applications. It provides setup instructions for OBS and Streamlabs Desktop, but does not score the four apps against one another.
| Option | Best fit | Kick connection or workflow |
|---|---|---|
| OBS Studio | Desktop streamers who want a custom encoder setup | Enter Kick’s custom server URL and stream key in OBS’s Stream settings. |
| Streamlabs Desktop | Desktop streamers who prefer account authorization | Connect Kick through Settings > Stream, then authorize in a browser. |
| XSplit | Desktop streamers considering another supported encoder | Kick lists it as supported; the cited setup guide does not provide a scored comparison. |
| MELD | Desktop streamers considering another supported encoder | Kick lists it as supported; the cited setup guide does not provide a scored comparison. |
| Kick Web Go Live | Creators who want to start from a browser without separate streaming software | Browser workflow with built-in scenes, widgets, and camera and microphone controls. |
The available Kick guidance does not establish which desktop app uses less CPU, is more reliable, produces better quality, or offers better feature parity. All four desktop encoders need to be configured to meet Kick’s output limits.

#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Can you stream on Kick with OBS?
Yes. OBS connects to Kick using a custom server URL and stream key from your Kick Creator Dashboard. Menu labels can vary slightly between OBS versions, but the core setup is to enter those credentials, configure output, and start the stream.
- Get your credentials: Open the Kick Creator Dashboard and retrieve the stream URL and stream key. Keep the key private: anyone who has it can broadcast to your channel.
- Connect OBS: In OBS, open Settings > Stream, choose Custom as the service, then paste in the Kick server URL and stream key.
- Set the output: In Settings > Output and Settings > Video, choose an encoder and settings that stay within Kick’s limits below. Kick’s guide gives example configurations for x264, NVIDIA NVENC H.264, and AMD HW H.264; which hardware encoder appears depends on your computer.
- Set the stream details: Set the stream title and category in the Kick dashboard.
- Go live: Start streaming in OBS and check the Kick channel page to confirm the broadcast is arriving.
Is Streamlabs better than OBS for Kick?
Kick documents a different connection path for Streamlabs Desktop, not a performance advantage over OBS. Choose Streamlabs if its account-authorization flow suits you; choose OBS if you want to paste a custom server URL and key. The official guidance cited here does not establish that one is faster, more reliable, or higher quality.

Can you go live on Kick without downloading software?
Yes. Kick Web Go Live lets you start a broadcast in a browser without installing a separate desktop streaming application. Kick describes built-in scenes and widgets as well as camera and microphone controls. It is the simplest documented route when you want a browser workflow rather than a desktop encoder; the available guidance does not compare its performance with OBS or other applications.
What settings does Kick require?
Kick’s Help Center guidance specifies the following output ceilings and formats. Treat them as maximums, not a promise that every computer or upload connection can sustain the highest setting. Kick advises streamers to account for their available upload speed.

| Setting | Kick guidance | Practical configuration check |
|---|---|---|
| Video codec | H.264 / x264 | Use an H.264 encoder. Hardware options such as NVIDIA NVENC H.264 or AMD HW H.264 may be available depending on the computer. |
| Rate control | CBR | Select constant bitrate rather than a variable-rate mode. |
| Video bitrate | Up to 8,000 kbps | Do not exceed 8,000 kbps; choose a rate your upload connection can sustain. |
| Resolution | Up to 1920 × 1080 | Keep output at or below 1080p. |
| Frame rate | Up to 60 fps | Keep output at or below 60 fps. |
| Audio | Stereo, up to 48 kHz | Use stereo audio and a sample rate no higher than 48 kHz. |
These limits are documented by Kick Help Center in 2026. A suitable bitrate depends on the real upload capacity available to the streaming computer; if the connection cannot sustain the chosen rate, reduce it rather than repeatedly pushing the maximum.
Which apps work for Kick mobile streaming?
Kick lists its official app, Streamlabs Mobile, Prism Live Studio, Larix Broadcaster, and Moblin for mobile streaming. The appropriate workflow depends on what you are broadcasting:

Kick’s cited materials list these mobile options but do not provide a comparative performance ranking or establish feature parity among them.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Do you need extra streaming gear?
No particular accessory is a software requirement. Kick’s beginner checklist suggests that a basic USB microphone may improve audio over a built-in laptop microphone, but it does not endorse a specific model. If you are starting out, use the equipment you have, check how your voice sounds on a test stream or recording, and upgrade only if the built-in mic is limiting you.

Kick streaming problems: what to check
- OBS will not connect: Recheck the server URL and stream key in OBS against the values in the Creator Dashboard. If you reset the key, update OBS with the new one.
- The connection stopped working after a key reset: Replace the old key in the streaming application. A reset invalidates the credential previously entered there.
- The stream will not start or meet output requirements: Confirm H.264/x264 encoding, CBR, bitrate at or below 8,000 kbps, resolution at or below 1920 × 1080, frame rate at or below 60 fps, and stereo audio at no more than 48 kHz.
- The stream is unstable: Check whether the selected bitrate is sustainable on the available upload connection; lower it if necessary.
- The application cannot reach Kick: Update the streaming application and check whether firewall or network rules are blocking the connection.
- Streamlabs is live but the title is wrong or missing: Set the title manually on Kick after going live.
Never share your stream key. Kick warns that anyone with the key can broadcast to your channel.
Copyright and channel rules still apply
Streaming software only sends your broadcast; it does not grant rights to music, video, games, or other material in it. Use content you have permission to broadcast and check Kick’s current rules before going live. The Kick setup guidance described here addresses connection and encoding, not a guarantee that particular content is permitted or that a channel will avoid enforcement.
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is not Kick streaming software: it streams uploaded videos to YouTube only, so it cannot take the place of OBS, Streamlabs, or Kick Web Go Live for a Kick channel. If your separate goal is to keep a YouTube channel live with prerecorded video, upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops it from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home; it streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, and can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly access is $9.99 per month. Start the free day with StreamNeo.
