For a jewellery showroom promo, begin with 1920Ă—1080 at 30 fps, H.264, CBR at 5,000 Kbps, a 2-second keyframe interval, AAC stereo at 128 Kbps, and Rec. 709 SDR. Treat that as a starting profile, not a guarantee: test your actual upload connection and lower the bitrate or resolution if the stream is unstable. YouTube recommends 5 Mbps for 1080p30 H.264, while OBS suggests starting at no more than 75% of measured upload speed.
Recommended OBS profile for a jewellery showroom
A mostly static counter shot with deliberate hand movement usually has little need for 60 fps. Starting at 30 fps leaves more room to prioritize a stable stream, while 1080p gives close-ups enough detail for viewers to inspect pieces. These choices are practical recommendations for this use case, not a tested universal OBS preset.

YouTube’s current guidance also specifies RTMP or RTMPS ingest, up to 60 fps, and recommends the YouTube service/RTMPS endpoint where available. Its HDR guidance calls for H.265/HEVC and 10-bit; it says AV1 is not supported for HDR. See YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
Choose bitrate from a real upload test
Do not infer upload capacity from an ISP plan’s advertised download speed. YouTube recommends running an upload speed test. OBS’s troubleshooting guidance says a good starting point is a streaming bitrate at 75% of total upload speed. By that rough rule, a 5 Mbps video bitrate implies about 6.7 Mbps measured upload (5 Ă· 0.75), before accounting for other business or household traffic and connection variation. That arithmetic is not an ISP guarantee; test the route and sustain the load.

When 1080p30 is not stable
Move down to 720p30 at YouTube’s recommended H.264 bitrate of 3 Mbps, then evaluate stream health. If needed, lower bitrate further and test again. A reliable lower-resolution stream is preferable to a higher-quality feed that repeatedly drops frames.
When to consider 60 fps
For a counter display with slow product handling, stay at 30 fps unless smoother movement materially improves the presentation. YouTube recommends 6 Mbps for 720p60 and 12 Mbps for 1080p60 H.264, compared with 3 Mbps for 720p30 and 5 Mbps for 1080p30. Those are YouTube recommendations, not measured results for a particular Indian connection or OBS computer. Full figures are on YouTube’s encoder settings page.

Set up the OBS and YouTube stream
- Create the YouTube live event. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream and obtain its stream key and ingest details. Keep the key private; anyone with it may be able to send video to your event.
- Configure OBS output. In OBS, open Settings → Output. Set output mode and encoder controls as needed to expose the video bitrate, CBR, and keyframe interval. Choose H.264, CBR, 5,000 Kbps, and a 2-second keyframe interval when your connection supports that profile.
- Set video and audio. In Settings → Video, use 1920×1080 output at 30 fps. In Settings → Audio and the relevant output controls, use AAC stereo at 128 Kbps and 44.1 kHz where available. Encoder menu labels vary by OBS version and hardware, so verify the resulting values rather than relying on a particular encoder name.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. In Settings → Stream, select YouTube and the available RTMPS service/endpoint, then connect using the stream key as prompted. Do not share screenshots or recordings that expose the key.
- Build and rehearse the scene. Frame the display area, check focus and exposure, and test representative pieces, hand movement, scene changes, overlays, and audio. YouTube advises testing similar audio and movement before going live.
- Check the preview and stream health. Start an unlisted/private rehearsal where appropriate, confirm the preview and watch page, and check on a phone as well as the production display. Monitor YouTube’s stream-health messages and OBS’s dropped-frame counter before making the event public. YouTube’s live guidance is at Get started with live streaming.
Make jewellery legible on camera
Use a neutral, consistent background and steady lighting. If your camera allows it, lock exposure and white balance after setup so the image does not shift as hands or reflective pieces enter the frame. Test polished and matte pieces at the actual shooting distance, and move them slowly enough for facets, engravings, and color to remain visible.
These are practical production suggestions rather than YouTube or OBS requirements. The cited platform guidance does not prescribe a camera, lens, light, color-rendering index, or focus distance for jewellery. If exact color representation matters commercially, verify the camera-to-display workflow independently instead of assuming the live image will reproduce a piece’s color precisely.

Plan continuous airtime, archives, and rewind
A continuous promo does not mean a single YouTube broadcast will reliably produce an archive of unlimited length. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived and warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. If you need a VOD, schedule sessions shorter than 12 hours and make a local recording as backup. Details: Archive live streams.
YouTube also says DVR pause and rewind may be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours. If late-arriving viewers need to revisit an earlier product demonstration, test DVR behavior and plan shorter sessions rather than assuming the entire broadcast will be rewindable. During a rehearsal and the live event, watch the OBS dropped-frame counter, YouTube stream health, audio/video, and local recording file growth. OBS explains that dropped frames indicate an unstable connection or one unable to sustain the bitrate. It recommends lowering bitrate according to stable upload capacity and using a wired connection; VPNs, security software, and network hardware can also contribute to connection trouble.
