Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallOutdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down
One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchFor continuous meditation music, use as few OBS audio filters as possible: correct the source level first, add a compressor only if the music has unwanted level swings, and put a limiter last to catch peaks. Leave the noise gate off; it can cut quiet notes, fades, and reverb tails. Add noise suppression or an expander only to address an audible noise problem, and check that processing does not erase quiet musical detail.
Which OBS filters suit continuous meditation music?
There is no evidence-backed universal preset for meditation music. The right chain depends on the recording and capture path, so use a filter only when it solves a problem you can hear. OBS’s guides describe the filters’ functions, not a meditation-specific threshold, ratio, or loudness target.
| Filter | Use for a continuous music bed | Watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Gain | Optional: raise a source that is genuinely too quiet. If practical, adjust the source level upstream first. | Gain is not loudness normalization and does not prevent peaks from clipping. Check levels after adjustment. OBS gain guide |
| Compressor | Optional: use when the recording has level swings that you want to control gently. OBS generally places it near the beginning of a filter chain. | Compression changes musical dynamics. Listen to the actual output; OBS defaults are not a meditation-music prescription. OBS compressor guide |
| Expander | Usually omit on clean music. Consider only light reduction when unwanted low-level noise is audible. | Expansion makes quieter sounds quieter. A threshold set too high can attenuate quiet instruments and ambience. OBS recommends placing it after compression or effects and before a limiter. OBS expander guide |
| Noise suppression | Omit unless mild background or white noise is present in the recording or capture chain. | OBS says suppression may help mild fan or environmental noise, is generally ineffective against large amounts of noise, and can distort wanted sound. Audition it carefully. OBS noise suppression guide |
| Noise gate | Do not use on an uninterrupted music bed. | A gate cuts signal below its close threshold. Quiet notes, fades, and reverb tails may fall below it. OBS describes the gate for removing background noise when not speaking, not for continuous music. OBS noise gate guide |
| Limiter | A sensible final peak ceiling, set conservatively after listening. | It should be last in the chain. OBS gives -6 dB as its default threshold, not a universal target for meditation music. OBS limiter guide |
| VST 2.x plugin | Not needed for the basic setup. | OBS supports VST 2.x plugins, but the cited guidance does not establish a need for a third-party plugin for this use. OBS filters guide |
Build and tune a filter chain by listening
- Audition representative passages. Listen to quiet and loud sections, fades, sustained notes, and ambience—the same kinds of passages that will play on stream.
- Correct the source level first. Adjust it upstream where practical. Add OBS gain only if the source is still too quiet, then check that peaks do not clip.
- Add compression only for a real level problem. If musical level swings need control, make a restrained adjustment and compare the result. Do not assume a universal ratio, threshold, or loudness target.
- Address noise selectively. Add an expander or noise suppression only if unwanted noise is audible. Compare processed and bypassed sound to make sure quiet musical details remain intact.
- Place the limiter last. Confirm it catches occasional peaks rather than working constantly. Its default threshold is not an ideal ceiling for every source.
- Test the stream privately or as unlisted. Monitor YouTube playback, not just OBS’s meter, and listen for changes to the quiet passages. OBS recommends testing the setup before going live. OBS overview guide
If processing is needed, a practical order is source-level adjustment → optional compressor → optional expander for identified noise → limiter. Noise suppression is conditional on mild noise and should be auditioned; OBS’s guidance does not prescribe one mandatory position for it relative to every other filter.
Keep OBS filters separate from YouTube encoder settings
Filters shape the audio signal; encoder settings determine how YouTube receives the audio. For stereo live audio over RTMP or RTMPS, YouTube’s advanced encoder guidance lists AAC or MP3, 128 kbps, and a 44.1 kHz sample rate. These are encoding recommendations, not filter settings. Confirm the current requirements in YouTube’s live encoder settings.

Plan for 24/7 operation and archive limits
- Test with representative content. Use audio and movement similar to the real stream, check stream health, and monitor quality while live. YouTube recommends leaving 20% network bandwidth headroom. See YouTube’s streaming tips.
- Keep a local recording if you need an archive. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived and warns that streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. Do not count on a single complete 24-hour YouTube VOD; plan archive continuity separately. See YouTube’s archive guidance.
- Do not treat the filter chain as an uptime guarantee. Filters affect sound, not network reliability or stream recovery. Monitor the actual broadcast and ensure local archive files are growing if you are recording locally.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the goal is to keep a prerecorded YouTube stream running without leaving a computer on at home, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos or playlists from the cloud.
