A mini PC may suit a simple OBS production, but the right choice depends on the cameras, capture devices, overlays, resolution, frame rate and encoder—and OBS warns that basic compatibility does not guarantee a system can handle a particular streaming workload.
For a modest single-camera service, begin by matching the PC to the actual production and rehearsing it under realistic conditions. An Intel N100 mini PC is a product-search option, not a proven winner: the available ASUS specification is for a motherboard, not a finished PC’s power use, sustained thermals or reliability.
What makes a mini PC suitable for a church stream?
Small size and a low-power processor do not establish that a computer can stream reliably for a full service, much less run unattended over time. OBS’s requirements vary with encoder, output resolution, frame rate and scene complexity. A scene with multiple cameras, presentation capture, animated overlays and local recording can place a different load on the system than a simple camera-and-microphone setup.
OBS also cautions that “Having a compatible system does not guarantee that it is capable of streaming or recording using OBS Studio.” See the OBS Studio system requirements. Treat CPU specifications as one input, not as proof of whole-system capability.

Check the complete production, not just the processor
- List every video source, capture device, audio input, overlay and presentation feed used during the service.
- Decide whether the PC must record locally while streaming, and account for that additional workload.
- Confirm the machine has the connections your cameras and displays require, plus wired networking if your setup uses it.
- Prefer a supported hardware encoder where it suits the production. OBS explains that hardware encoding generally moves work from the CPU to a specialized GPU component, but encoder generations can differ in image quality at a given bitrate.
OBS’s Quick Sync guidance discusses Intel Core processor generations; it does not validate an Intel N100 or a complete N100 mini PC for this workload. Do not infer a finished system’s consumption, heat behavior or endurance from an N100 motherboard specification.
Recommended YouTube settings for a simple sermon stream
YouTube recommends RTMPS for live ingest. For H.264, its recommended ingest bitrates are 8 Mbps at 720p/30 fps and 14 Mbps at 1080p/30 fps. These are platform recommendations, not guarantees of delivered quality or a reliable connection. YouTube lists H.264, H.265/HEVC and AV1 in its RTMP/RTMPS encoder settings; choose a format your encoder and production support.

- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
| Setting | Starting guidance |
|---|---|
| Ingest protocol | RTMPS |
| Rate control | CBR |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds recommended; do not exceed 4 seconds |
| 720p at 30 fps, H.264 | 8 Mbps recommended ingest bitrate |
| 1080p at 30 fps, H.264 | 14 Mbps recommended ingest bitrate |
| Audio | AAC or MP3, as supported by YouTube’s encoder guidance |
The figures above reflect YouTube Help guidance checked on 2026-10-03. For a single-camera sermon, 720p/30 fps is a reasonable starting point when reducing bandwidth and encoder load matters. Move to 1080p/30 fps only if the camera, upload connection and audience needs support it.
Use YouTube’s current live encoder settings, bitrates and resolutions for the format you select; platform guidance can change.

How to choose and validate a mini PC
Before buying
- Set a target resolution, frame rate and encoder based on the service your church actually produces.
- Check the full connection layout: camera and capture inputs, displays, audio devices and wired network.
- Compare candidate systems on sustained performance for your OBS scene, noise, warranty and support—not only processor name or advertised low power.
- Look for workload-specific measurements of wall power and sustained thermal behavior if those matter to your budget or installation. No comparative wall-power or long-duration mini-PC measurements for this church-stream workload are established here.
Rehearse the actual service setup
- Build the complete OBS scene with the real cameras, capture devices, overlays, presentation capture and audio path.
- Set the chosen resolution and frame rate, configure the encoder, and use RTMPS, CBR and a two-second keyframe interval.
- Run a sustained rehearsal with audio and movement similar to the real service. Check the stream health feedback and OBS status for dropped frames or overload messages.
- If processing load is too high, simplify the scene or lower the canvas/output resolution; OBS’s encoding performance troubleshooting guidance includes lowering resolution as a way to reduce load.
- Repeat the rehearsal after changing the encoder, resolution, scene or connected equipment. Keep monitoring stream health and messages during the actual event.
YouTube specifically advises, “Make sure to test before you start your live stream.” Its guidance recommends testing with similar audio and movement, then monitoring stream health and reviewing messages during the event: YouTube Help: live encoder settings.
Continuous operation: what the evidence can and cannot tell you
A successful rehearsal is useful evidence about your particular setup, but it is not proof of continuous unattended reliability. The available sources do not establish comparative long-duration reliability or thermal results for mini PCs streaming a church service. Avoid treating a model label or a single successful test as a guarantee; have a monitoring and recovery plan appropriate to the importance of the broadcast.

For a purchasing comparison, record the candidate PC’s measured wall power during your real stream, encoding path and image quality at the target settings, sustained temperatures and stability, connectivity, noise, warranty and price. Those are evaluation criteria for your own test—not established measurements for a specific mini PC here.
