Crunchyroll is the best overall legal replacement for KissAnime if you want an anime-first catalog, seasonal simulcasts, subtitles, dubs and offline viewing. Netflix, HIDIVE, Hulu, Disney+, Prime Video and free ad-supported services fill different gaps. No platform has the same anime catalog in every country, so verify the exact show, season and language before subscribing. Avoid websites or apps that merely copy the KissAnime name or interface.

Why there is no single worldwide KissAnime replacement
Streaming rights are licensed by territory, language and time period. A service can operate in many countries while offering different shows in each one. Subtitled and dubbed versions can also have separate rights, and a license can expire or move to another platform.
Crunchyroll explains that regional licensing determines whether a title can play in a particular country and does not support using a VPN to bypass those restrictions. Its guidance is available at Why can’t I watch certain shows in my region?. VIZ likewise warns that platform, country and dubbed/subtitled availability can change: VIZ streaming partners.
#1 Best Overall
Also distinguish “on the service” from “included in the subscription.” Prime Video search results, for example, can combine base-Prime titles with rentals, purchases and separately billed channels.
The best services by use case
1. Crunchyroll: best overall dedicated anime service
Crunchyroll is the strongest first subscription for viewers who follow current seasons and want a large anime-first library. Premium benefits include ad-free viewing, selected simulcasts, downloads and access to the Crunchyroll Game Vault; the exact benefits depend on plan and country. The U.S. page lists Fan at $9.99 per month and Mega Fan at $13.99 per month, with Mega Fan supporting up to six simultaneous devices. Eligible new subscribers may receive a seven-day trial that automatically renews unless canceled: official plans.
Crunchyroll announced U.S. monthly increases effective for existing monthly subscribers after their next billing date following March 4, 2026: Fan rose from $7.99 to $9.99, Mega Fan from $11.99 to $13.99, and Ultimate Fan from $15.99 to $17.99. See the February 2, 2026 announcement.
Choose it if: anime is your main viewing priority, especially seasonal releases and a deep subtitle/dub selection. Skip or supplement it if: the particular show you want is licensed elsewhere in your country.

2. Netflix: best for originals and mainstream exclusives
Netflix is a useful companion or alternative when you want anime originals, exclusive films and polished apps alongside general entertainment. Its official anime pages list examples such as One Piece, Jujutsu Kaisen, Blue Lock, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, Neon Genesis Evangelion and Pluto; the displayed selection is territory-dependent: anime catalog and anime series.
It is not a complete seasonal-anime replacement. The U.S. prices shown on the anime page are $8.99 monthly with ads, $19.99 for Standard and $26.99 for Premium, but those figures should not be generalized internationally.
3. HIDIVE: best complementary specialist service
HIDIVE is most valuable when a specific niche title, specialty genre or selected simulcast is absent from Crunchyroll. Its U.S. page advertises $7.99 monthly, $79.99 annually, a seven-day trial, selected dubs, offline downloads and viewing on up to two devices: HIDIVE plans.
Its catalog is smaller and its geographic coverage is less consistent than larger platforms. Treat it as a targeted second service, not as a cheaper duplicate of Crunchyroll.

4. Hulu: best U.S. general-entertainment option
For viewers in the United States who already want live-action television, Hulu can combine anime with a broader library. Hulu advertises anime plans starting at $11.99 per month and lists titles including Sailor Moon, Attack on Titan, Bleach, Naruto Shippuden, My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen and Mushoku Tensei on its U.S. pages: anime collection and The Cartoonisseurs. It is primarily a U.S. recommendation, and rights change.
5. Disney+: best for selected exclusives or an existing bundle
Disney+ is not a comprehensive anime service, but it can be economical when you already pay for Disney content or want a particular Disney-distributed title. U.S. standalone pricing listed by Disney is $11.99 monthly with ads, $18.99 monthly for Premium and $189.99 annually for Premium; bundles with Hulu are also listed. Details are at Disney+ pricing. Subscribe for a known title or bundle value, not for a KissAnime-sized catalog.
6. Prime Video: best when you already use Amazon
Prime Video’s anime results can represent four different transactions: included Prime content, a rental, a purchase or an add-on channel. Check the label on each title before paying. Crunchyroll confirms that its service is offered through Amazon Prime Video Channels in selected markets, including the U.S., U.K., Sweden and Canada, with billing managed by Amazon: Crunchyroll payment methods and Amazon’s announcement.
7. Free legal options: Tubi, Pluto TV and official YouTube channels
Ad-supported services and publisher-controlled YouTube channels can provide legitimate free episodes or rotating catalogs. Availability depends on country, and they generally offer fewer simulcasts and older or selected titles rather than a complete library. Use the official domains or verified publisher channels only. “Free” means free with advertising or limited availability; it does not guarantee every season or language version.

How to choose without wasting money
- Start with your priority. Choose Crunchyroll for breadth and simulcasts, Netflix for originals, HIDIVE for niche coverage, Hulu for U.S. general TV, Disney+ for selected exclusives, Prime Video for existing Amazon users, or free services for casual viewing.
- Search the exact title first. Use a legal availability guide such as JustWatch or LiveChart, then confirm the result on the platform’s own app or website.
- Check the country and version. Confirm season number, subtitle language, dub language and release status.
- Check how access is sold. Verify whether the title is included, rented, purchased or behind an add-on channel.
- Check completeness. A service may carry only one season, a film, or a spin-off rather than the entire franchise.
- Check the airing schedule. For a current series, confirm when episodes release in your territory.
- Rotate subscriptions. Keep one primary service and add a second only when a specific exclusive justifies it. Annual billing is worthwhile only when you expect to watch long enough to beat twelve monthly payments.
Are KissAnime-branded alternatives safe?
A familiar name, copied interface or HTTPS padlock does not establish licensing or safety. Do not enter payment details, email passwords or browser-notification permissions on an unverified KissAnime-branded site. Do not install unofficial streaming APKs, accept fake “download player” prompts or reuse a password on an unknown service.
- Use a domain linked from the service’s official company page.
- Install apps from the Apple App Store, Google Play, a verified smart-TV store or an official console marketplace.
- Look for identifiable ownership, licensing information, customer support and a normal account-removal process.
- Leave immediately if a site demands notification access, redirects through deceptive ads or asks for card details before showing clear subscription terms.
This article recommends legal services, not pirate mirrors, clone domains or unofficial apps.
Common playback and availability problems
The title appears in search but will not play
The listing may belong to another country, cover only one season, require a rental or purchase, lack the requested dub, or represent an episode that has not released locally. A globally indexed page can also be shown before the catalog is localized. Turn off VPNs and proxies when troubleshooting; Crunchyroll says they can cause playback problems and are not a supported way to access unlicensed regional content: regional availability guidance.
You want every season in one place
That is often impossible because franchises are split among exclusive licenses. Use a legal availability search, select one primary service, add a second for a specific gap, and consider a legitimate digital purchase or physical release for an unusually unavailable film or older season.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsBest Value
- English dubbed, Japanese language, English subtitles
You want a dub
Check the audio menu for the exact country and season. A large subtitled catalog does not imply an equally large English or other-language dub catalog.
Services that are no longer current recommendations
Funimation’s app and website ended service on April 2, 2024, with the transition directed toward Crunchyroll. Do not treat old Funimation comparison pages as current availability information; see Crunchyroll’s service-closure notice.
Final decision guide
- One primary anime subscription: Crunchyroll.
- Crunchyroll gap-filler: HIDIVE.
- Anime plus major originals and general entertainment: Netflix.
- U.S. anime plus broader television: Hulu.
- Existing Disney+ household: Check Disney+ for the specific exclusive before adding another service.
- Existing Prime household: Check whether the title is included, rented, purchased or offered through a Crunchyroll channel.
- No-cost viewing: Search Tubi, Pluto TV and official YouTube channels in your country.
The practical replacement for KissAnime is therefore a legal, title-first combination: one service that covers most of your viewing, plus a targeted second subscription or purchase when licensing leaves a gap.
