1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesUse AWS Elemental MediaLive—not MediaPackage—to loop a prerecorded MP4 and send it to YouTube Live. Store the file in Amazon S3, attach it to a MediaLive channel as a file input, set the input’s Source end behavior to LOOP, and configure an RTMP output for YouTube. Add a separate MediaLive HLS output to MediaPackage only if you also need a packaged playback endpoint for other clients.
Recommended architecture
The core path is:
MP4 in S3 → MediaLive file input (Source end behavior: LOOP) → MediaLive channel → RTMP output to YouTube Live
If you need a separate HLS playback endpoint, add another output path:
MediaLive HLS output → MediaPackage endpoint → playback clients or CDN

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
These are distinct delivery paths from the MediaLive channel. The RTMP output sends the stream to YouTube; the HLS output supplies MediaPackage for downstream playback. MediaPackage is not required for the YouTube ingest path described here.
What each AWS service does
| Service | Role in this design |
|---|---|
| Amazon S3 | Stores the MP4 source file used by a MediaLive file input. |
| AWS Elemental MediaLive | Ingests the file, encodes it, handles file looping or scheduled input switches, and sends configured output groups such as RTMP and HLS. |
| AWS Elemental MediaPackage | Receives live HLS from an upstream encoder and packages it for downstream playback requests. It does not perform the file loop or provide the YouTube destination in this architecture. |
| Amazon CloudFront | Can distribute packaged playback from MediaPackage to viewers when that distribution path is needed. It is not a required part of YouTube ingest. |
Configure a single-file loop to YouTube
- Put the source in S3. Use the MP4 you want MediaLive to repeat and make it available as a MediaLive file input. AWS documentation also lists S3 as an eligible location for MP4 or TS inputs.
- Create and attach a MediaLive file input. Use the S3 file as the channel’s input. The file input is where the loop behavior is configured.
- Set Source end behavior to LOOP. With this setting, MediaLive starts ingesting the file again when it reaches the end, continuing until a scheduled next input begins. For one continuously repeated file, this is the direct loop behavior.
- Configure the MediaLive channel and outputs. Set the encoding and add an RTMP output group for YouTube. If you also need packaged playback, configure a distinct HLS output for MediaPackage.
- Use the current YouTube Live ingest details. In YouTube Studio, confirm the current ingest URL, stream key, and encoder requirements, then configure the RTMP destination accordingly. Do not rely on a hard-coded ingest address or key from an unverified guide.
- Start the channel and verify both endpoints you need. Confirm the live event is receiving the RTMP feed in YouTube Studio. If using MediaPackage, separately verify its HLS endpoint with the intended playback client or distribution path.
When you need a sequence instead of one repeating file
LOOP repeats the same file. For multiple files, use MediaLive scheduled input switches so one file can follow another. MediaLive supports file inputs in sequence for a VOD-to-live workflow, and dynamic inputs can select different S3 or MediaStore MP4/TS files through schedule variables. Plan and validate the transition schedule rather than treating a multi-file playlist as a single-file loop.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
A file input configured with CONTINUE plays once; after it ends, MediaLive uses input-loss behavior until the next input starts. Use LOOP when the intended behavior is to repeat the current file while waiting for a scheduled next input.
Do you need MediaPackage?
- No, not just to reach YouTube. In this design, MediaLive sends a separate RTMP output to YouTube.
- Yes, if you need its HLS packaging endpoint for playback clients. MediaPackage receives live HLS from MediaLive and packages it for downstream requests.
- Add CloudFront for viewer distribution when appropriate. AWS’s reference architecture places CloudFront after MediaPackage for distributing packaged playback; that is a separate use case from YouTube ingest.
Reliability, costs, and design checks
Redundancy is a separate design decision
AWS’s reference live-streaming architecture uses redundant feeds and processing alongside MediaPackage and CloudFront. That architecture is useful as a reliability pattern, but it does not establish automatic end-to-end redundancy for a single S3 file loop sent to YouTube. Validate the input and channel-class constraints, and test recovery behavior for the configuration you actually deploy.

Estimate the full running cost for your workload
There is no workload-specific price estimate established here. Compare the cost and operational overhead of keeping the MediaLive channel running, whether a MediaPackage endpoint is needed, your output formats and bitrate ladder, and the resiliency level you require. Adding MediaPackage and CloudFront for playback distribution addresses a different need than the YouTube RTMP feed.
Common problems and what to check
- The file plays once and stops or enters input-loss behavior: check that the file input’s Source end behavior is LOOP, not CONTINUE.
- YouTube does not receive the stream: verify the current RTMP ingest URL and stream key in YouTube Studio, and check that the MediaLive RTMP output is configured for that destination.
- MediaPackage has no playable output: confirm the channel has a separate HLS output directed to MediaPackage. The YouTube RTMP output alone does not create a MediaPackage endpoint.
- A scheduled next file does not take over as expected: review the MediaLive input-switch schedule and the file input end behavior. LOOP repeats until a scheduled next input begins; CONTINUE ends the file and uses input-loss behavior while awaiting the next input.
- Playback distribution is confused with YouTube ingest: keep the paths distinct. MediaPackage and optionally CloudFront serve packaged playback; the MediaLive RTMP output is the YouTube path.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the goal is simply to keep prerecorded video live on a YouTube channel, StreamNeo is a managed alternative: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops the uploaded video from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. The video streams as uploaded at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month.
