The evidence available does not confirm seven upcoming Benedict Cumberbatch feature films. The clearest announced film is Blood on Snow, planned for UK cinemas in 2027. Wife & Dog is listed as a Cumberbatch project, while his reported involvement in Avengers: Secret Wars is distinct from the unsubstantiated claim that he will appear in Avengers: Doomsday. Mog’s Bad Thing is another announced screen project, but it should not be counted as a feature film.
Why the “seven upcoming movies” count is unreliable
There is no verified seven-film slate in the available evidence. Project listings, entertainment reports and official announcements do not carry the same weight, and some do not establish a release date or even a film format. Rather than fill a list with unconfirmed titles, here is what can responsibly be said about the projects most often associated with Cumberbatch.

Which Benedict Cumberbatch movies are coming next?
| Project | What is established | Release information |
|---|---|---|
| Blood on Snow | Sky announced Cumberbatch and Aaron Taylor-Johnson among the cast of an adaptation of Jo Nesbø’s novel. | Planned for UK cinemas in 2027; Sky did not announce an exact date. |
| Wife & Dog | A current IMDb listing associates Cumberbatch with the project; this is a database listing, not a definitive distributor confirmation. | Timing is unresolved: listings conflict, and no precise date is established here. |
| Avengers: Secret Wars | A recent entertainment report says Cumberbatch would appear in the film. | No release date or direct Marvel confirmation is established by the cited report. |
| Avengers: Doomsday | The available report says Cumberbatch corrected earlier remarks; it does not establish that he is in the film. | No Cumberbatch release or participation details are confirmed by the cited evidence. |
Blood on Snow: the clearest film announcement
Sky announced Blood on Snow as a film adaptation of Jo Nesbø’s novel, naming Benedict Cumberbatch and Aaron Taylor-Johnson among its cast. Sky says the film is planned for UK cinemas in 2027, but has not supplied an exact release date in its announcement. The year and territory should not be read as a global date or a guarantee that the schedule cannot change. Read Sky’s announcement.
Because the film is based on Nesbø’s book, the novel is the natural place to start for readers who want the source story. The announcement identifies the book as the adaptation’s source; it does not specify a required edition.

Wife & Dog: listed, but timing is unclear
Wife & Dog appears in a current IMDb listing associated with Cumberbatch. That supports treating it as a listed project, not presenting a release date as settled. The release timing in available listings conflicts, and the evidence here does not provide a definitive confirmation from Black Bear or a local distributor.
Avengers: Secret Wars is not Avengers: Doomsday
A recent GamesRadar+ report says Cumberbatch corrected his earlier comments about Avengers: Doomsday and would be in Avengers: Secret Wars. The report does not establish his appearance in Doomsday, so the two films should not be collapsed into one claim. Read the report on the Avengers clarification.

Mog’s Bad Thing is screen work, not a confirmed feature film
Channel 4 announced Cumberbatch, Claire Foy, Adjoa Andoh, Amelie Law and Teddy Skelton returning for Mog’s Bad Thing, from Lupus Films. That announcement establishes an upcoming screen project, but it is not evidence of an additional feature film. Keep it separate from a movie count unless an official description establishes its format. See Channel 4’s announcement.

What to watch for in release updates
- For Blood on Snow, distinguish the announced 2027 UK cinema window from an exact release date.
- For Wife & Dog, look for a distributor or local release announcement before relying on conflicting listings.
- For the Avengers films, require title-specific confirmation: the report about Secret Wars does not confirm a Cumberbatch role in Doomsday.
- For Mog’s Bad Thing, check Channel 4’s official description for format rather than adding it to a feature-film slate by assumption.
