The longer cut is Dunkin’s “The DunKings,” its 2024 Super Bowl LVIII commercial starring Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and Tom Brady as a boy band crashing Jennifer Lopez’s recording session. Dunkin’ announced the campaign on February 11, 2024, after introducing Affleck’s pop-star ambitions in a Grammy Awards teaser. The campaign archive labels a “Full Length Extended Version,” but Dunkin’s announcement does not give that cut’s exact runtime or first-posted time.
What happens in the extended commercial?
Affleck’s character turns his interest in pop stardom into a full boy-band entrance. He arrives at Lopez’s recording session with Damon and Brady as the DunKings, performing “Don’t Dunk Away at My Heart.” Dunkin’ says Fat Joe and Jack Harlow also appear in the commercial’s story.
The Super Bowl spot completes a campaign that began with a “Popstar” commercial during the 66th Grammy Awards. In that teaser, Affleck responds to the idea that he looked bored at the previous year’s Grammys by pursuing pop stardom. Dunkin’s campaign announcement describes the Super Bowl installment and its cast.
How long is the longer version?
The campaign archive identifies a “Full Length Extended Version,” but the official announcement does not specify its runtime. Contemporary Yahoo search-result snippets described a four-minute version, but the underlying pages were not accessible for verification. Treat four minutes as an unconfirmed reported figure, not a runtime established by Dunkin’s announcement. The exact posting time is likewise not stated there. The Clio Network archive labels the extended cut.
