Yes—Apple TV is now available on compatible DIRECTV Gemini devices. DIRECTV announced the support on March 25, 2026, allowing eligible customers to open the Apple TV app from a Gemini device and watch Apple TV+ content after subscribing or activating an existing subscription.
This does not mean Apple TV+ is included free with DIRECTV, nor does it mean every older DIRECTV STREAM device supports the app. DIRECTV currently lists Apple TV as a $12.99-per-month add-on, although pricing and eligibility can change.
What changed?
The important distinction is that the Apple TV app is now available on compatible DIRECTV Gemini devices. Through that app, subscribers can access Apple Originals, movies, Major League Soccer, Formula 1, and MLB Friday Night Baseball, subject to subscription terms, schedules, regional restrictions, and applicable blackouts.

DIRECTV describes this as app access rather than Apple TV becoming a conventional DIRECTV linear channel. Some Apple TV programming may appear in DIRECTV listings, but the primary viewing experience is through the app.
DIRECTV’s announcement specifically names Gemini devices. Do not assume that every older DIRECTV STREAM box is compatible.
Is Apple TV+ included with DIRECTV?
No general free inclusion is established. DIRECTV currently lists Apple TV as a paid streaming-app add-on at $12.99 per month. The charge auto-renews through DIRECTV at the then-current rate, and DIRECTV says it can be canceled at any time.

Availability on your Gemini device therefore does not provide free access. You need an eligible DIRECTV account and an Apple TV subscription. Check the current DIRECTV streaming-app page before ordering because prices, plans, and eligibility may change.
How to add Apple TV through DIRECTV
- Sign in to your DIRECTV account.
- Open My TV package.
- Find Apple TV and select Add.
- Follow the on-screen prompts.
- Activate the Apple TV subscription when prompted.
- On the Gemini device, open the device’s app menu and choose Apple TV.
- Sign in with the Apple TV credentials created during activation.
Your Apple TV login does not have to match your DIRECTV user ID and password. DIRECTV’s support instructions are available in its Apple TV activation guide.
What if you already subscribe to Apple TV?
DIRECTV says an existing Apple TV subscription may be connected or merged during activation. That does not guarantee that every account will transition automatically.

Before accepting a new DIRECTV add-on, check who currently bills your Apple TV subscription. If Apple bills you directly, starting a second subscription through DIRECTV could create duplicate charges. Check both accounts after activation, and do not cancel the original subscription until the newly activated account is confirmed to work. If you choose DIRECTV billing, cancel any redundant direct Apple subscription through the service that originally billed it.

According to DIRECTV, the Apple TV add-on is unavailable to customers who stream DIRECTV and pay through Amazon, Roku, or Google.
This is an account and billing limitation—not a claim that the Apple TV app cannot run on Roku, Amazon, or Google devices in every circumstance. Those platforms may support Apple TV independently, but the DIRECTV-billed add-on may not be available for the listed billing arrangements.

Gemini device versus Apple TV hardware

The reverse arrangement is also supported: DIRECTV has its own app for Apple TV hardware. DIRECTV currently lists Apple TV devices running version 18 or higher as compatible with the DIRECTV app. That requirement applies to the DIRECTV app on Apple hardware, not automatically to the Apple TV app on a Gemini device. What you need
- A compatible DIRECTV Gemini device rather than an unverified older DIRECTV STREAM box.
- A high-speed internet connection and an internet-connected Gemini device.
- An eligible DIRECTV account and an Apple TV subscription.
- Apple TV activation credentials.
DIRECTV’s documentation does not establish a universal minimum broadband speed for this feature, so avoid relying on a specific speed number. Performance will also depend on the device, home network, and service conditions.

If the Apple TV app is missing
Use this practical troubleshooting sequence:
- Confirm that the hardware is a DIRECTV Gemini device.
- Check that it is connected to the internet.
- Restart the device and install any available software update.
- Verify that Apple TV was added under My TV package.
- Check whether your DIRECTV streaming account is billed through Amazon, Roku, or Google, which DIRECTV lists as unsupported for the add-on.
- Complete activation from your DIRECTV account page or activation email.
- If the app still does not appear, use another supported platform, such as a compatible smart TV, streaming stick, game console, Apple device, or Apple TV hardware.
Availability can also vary with account eligibility, software, region, or service restrictions. DIRECTV’s published support page confirms the app-menu path and billing limitation but is not a complete Gemini-specific troubleshooting tree.

Should you add Apple TV through DIRECTV?
Adding it through DIRECTV makes the most sense if you already own a Gemini device, want to use one remote and interface, and prefer one bill. It may be less attractive if you already pay Apple directly, want maximum portability across devices, or need to avoid DIRECTV account restrictions.
