The trailer for From the World of John Wick: Ballerina introduces Ana de Armas as Eve Macarro, a dancer trained to kill. Her search for her father’s killer gives the action a revenge motive, while the film’s place between two John Wick chapters connects her story to the franchise’s existing timeline.
What is Ballerina about?
Eve Macarro is recruited as a child by Winston and trained within the Ruska Roma, the organization and tradition associated with the ballerina assassins. The trailer shows her developing skills in boxing, martial arts, firearms, and knives. As an adult, she sets out to find her father’s killer.

The trailer’s slogan sums up that transformation: “To stop the assassin, you must become the assassin.” It also hints at the scale and style of the confrontations ahead, including opponents wielding flamethrowers.
Where does it fit in the John Wick timeline?
The story takes place between John Wick: Chapter 3—Parabellum (2019) and John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023). The ballerina-assassin concept appeared in Parabellum; Ballerina expands that corner of the setting by following Eve and her training under the Director, played by Anjelica Huston.

Keanu Reeves appears as John Wick. In the encounter shown in the trailer, Wick tells Eve, “Looks like you already have.” The exchange places the familiar character alongside the new lead without making him the center of her revenge story.

What the trailer signals about the film
The premise puts ballet training and assassin skills in the same frame: Eve’s identity as a dancer is paired with close combat, guns, and knives. The result, as presented in the trailer, is a revenge story that uses the John Wick world’s stylized action while giving a new character the lead. The footage establishes the contrast; it does not, by itself, establish how the finished film balances dance and combat.
