The film’s reported timeline places that story during John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, while familiar faces connect it to the wider saga.
What the trailer sets up
Ballerina is a John Wick-universe spinoff led by Ana de Armas as Eve Macarro. In a trailer-era report published September 26, 2024, BGR describes Eve as a young Ruska Roma dancer who seeks revenge for her family’s murder. That premise gives the film a personal motive at its center: Eve’s pursuit begins with a loss, rather than simply extending John Wick’s familiar assassin story. BGR’s report
Lionsgate’s official listing identifies the film as From the World of John Wick: Ballerina and presents its 2025 official trailer. The listing does not provide a transcript or detailed account of individual shots, so the clearest basis for describing the story here is the premise reported by BGR, not a scene-by-scene reading of the studio page. Where Ballerina fits in the John Wick timeline
BGR places the story during the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. That makes Ballerina a story set alongside an existing chapter of the franchise, rather than a straightforward continuation that begins after it. The timeline connection offers room for Eve’s path to intersect with the established world without making her story simply another installment about John.

Why Eve’s revenge premise gives the spinoff its own focus
The trailer-era description frames Eve as a dancer who becomes a seeker of vengeance after her family is murdered. That is the film’s most distinctive point of departure from the central setup audiences associate with the franchise: the focus shifts to a new lead and the personal grievance driving her pursuit. The available description establishes that motive, but does not justify claims about particular training scenes, fights, or plot turns.

Which familiar characters connect the film to the series
BGR names Keanu Reeves and Norman Reedus in connection with the film, along with returning franchise cast Ian McShane and Lance Reddick. Their presence links Ballerina to the established ensemble, while Eve remains the lead identified in the trailer-era report. The report does not provide enough detail to assign specific scenes or story functions to those characters.

In March 2025, Lionsgate published official rules for a Ballerina Trailer Live Stream sweepstakes. The rules list John Wick Blu-ray prizes and prizes connected to the John Wick Experience in Las Vegas. They state, “The total ARV of all Prizes is $4,755.00.” That is the aggregate approximate retail value stated for prizes in that historical promotion—not a current price, box-office figure, or measure of the franchise’s value. The rules also say, “A PURCHASE WILL NOT IMPROVE YOUR CHANCE OF WINNING.” Lionsgate’s official sweepstakes rules
