Amazon’s Your Books is a hub for books linked to your Amazon account, with library organization and recommendations—not a demonstrated, full-featured Goodreads replacement. Amazon announced it on December 13, 2023, combining qualifying print, Kindle, and Audible titles with books saved to Amazon wish lists. Its usefulness is greatest for readers already using Amazon; its launch description does not establish Goodreads-style reviews, reader networks, or discussion groups.
What is Amazon Your Books?
Your Books brings together books bought or borrowed through Amazon and books saved to Amazon wish lists. At launch, Amazon described a Library tab for purchased and borrowed titles and a separate Saved Books tab for wish-listed titles. The feature was presented as a personal library, organizer, and discovery surface connected to Amazon’s book catalog. Amazon’s announcement lists print, Kindle, and Audible books among the formats it supports.
The announcement is dated December 13, 2023. Contemporary coverage described the feature as being in beta; that characterization comes from Thurrott’s launch report, not a verified statement about its current status. The launch information does not confirm the exact interface, availability, or feature set in every marketplace as of August 2026.
How do you find Your Books?
Amazon’s launch-era instructions were to use the Amazon Store website and search for “Your Books.” Open the top result, then choose Library or Saved Books. If those labels or the result differ, search Amazon directly for “Your Books”; the launch path should not be treated as confirmation of the current menu layout or availability in every region.

What can you do in the Library?
At launch, Library offered a single place to browse Amazon-associated books and organize them by genre, author, or series. Amazon also described recommendations based on an individual title, a group of titles, or broader reading history, along with ways to explore similar books. These are recommendations tied to Amazon-associated activity and its catalog, not evidence of a complete record of everything a reader has read.
Discovery Mode
Discovery Mode was an optional recommendation experience. Launch coverage said it was off by default and could surface books by genre, author, tags, or similarity. Amazon’s announcement and early reporting describe the feature at launch; they do not establish how it works today, how its recommendations are ranked, or how commercial availability affects what appears. Treat it as a convenient Amazon-catalog discovery tool rather than an independent or community-ranked recommendation service.

Saved Books
Saved Books gathers books on Amazon wish lists. Amazon said users could filter saved titles by factors such as price range, subscription eligibility, genre, and list. That makes the tab useful for managing a shopping or reading backlog, but different from a neutral diary of books read.
What books appear—and what may be missing?
Your Books is built around qualifying Amazon-linked activity: purchases, borrowing through Amazon, and wish-list saves. The launch materials do not say that it imports a complete reading history from other retailers or services, or that every library loan, shared title, PDF, or manually owned print book will appear automatically. It is not established as a universal reading tracker or Goodreads-import tool.

- Our fastest Kindle Paperwhite ever – The next-generation 7“ Paperwhite display has a higher contrast ratio and 25% faster page turns.
- Ready for travel – The ultra-thin design has a larger glare-free screen so pages stay sharp no matter where you are.
- Escape into your books – Your Kindle doesn’t have social media, notifications, or other distracting apps.
- Battery life for your longest novel – A single charge via USB-C lasts up to 12 weeks.
- Read in any light – Adjust the display from white to amber to read in bright sunlight or in the dark.
- Different Amazon accounts: A book is associated with the account used to buy or borrow it. Separate personal, family, former, or regional accounts may therefore leave a reader with more than one library to check.
- Shared titles: A Kindle or Audible title available through household sharing may not appear or behave like a title purchased directly by the signed-in account; the launch description does not promise identical treatment.
- Borrowing: Amazon’s reference to borrowed books should not be extended to every public-library loan or third-party lending service.
- Print books bought elsewhere: Your Books is not described as a barcode scanner or general physical-library catalog, so older books or independent-bookstore purchases should not be assumed to appear.
- Marketplace differences: Catalogs, Kindle availability, Audible licensing, and wish-list behavior can vary by country and storefront. The launch details do not establish identical access across regions.
How does Your Books compare with Goodreads?
The “Goodreads competitor” label captures an overlap in book discovery and collection management, but it can imply more parity than the launch evidence supports. Your Books is centered on Amazon purchases and borrowing, Kindle and Audible integration, wish lists, and personalized product discovery. Goodreads is better known for social cataloging and reader participation.
| Capability | Your Books | Goodreads |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon purchase and borrowing history | Central to the Library, as described at launch | Not its central purpose |
| Kindle and Audible connection | Print, Kindle, and Audible books included in Amazon’s launch description | Not the same unified Amazon library layer |
| Wish-list organization | Saved Books gathers Amazon wish-list titles | Public or private shelves serve a different purpose |
| Recommendations | Amazon-described recommendations based on titles and Amazon-associated reading history | Catalog and community activity are associated with discovery |
| Public reviews and ratings | Not established in the launch materials | A core Goodreads use |
| Followers, social updates, groups, and discussion | Not established in the launch materials | Associated with Goodreads |
| Books acquired outside Amazon | Automatic import is not established | More suited to broad cataloging, though the launch sources do not establish a direct feature-by-feature equivalence |
For readers who depend on public reviews, reading-status updates, friends and followers, book clubs, or discussion, the Your Books launch description does not establish equivalent features. It may complement Goodreads for Amazon-linked titles, but the available launch evidence does not support calling it a one-for-one replacement.

How does it relate to Kindle and Audible?
Your Books is an organizing and discovery layer over Amazon-related book activity; it does not replace Kindle as the reading interface or Audible as the listening service. Amazon says Kindle libraries are available across Kindle devices and apps when readers sign in with the same Amazon account. Its Kindle library guide explains that account-linked access; Kindle for Web is another way to access Kindle books without dedicated hardware.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Who is Your Books best suited to?
A good fit
- You buy or borrow much of your reading through Amazon.
- You use Kindle or Audible alongside print books and want an Amazon-centered view of those titles.
- You keep wish lists as a to-read queue and want filters to manage them.
- You want Amazon-based recommendations and do not need a large social reading community.
A poor fit
- You buy books from many retailers and want one complete, retailer-neutral record.
- You need to catalog a physical library acquired elsewhere.
- You rely on reader reviews, public shelves, detailed reading statistics, social accountability, or discussion groups.
- You do not want a retailer’s account-linked book activity to inform its product-discovery experience.
What is the trade-off?
The convenience comes from integration: Amazon can connect qualifying purchases, borrowing, Kindle and Audible titles, wish lists, and recommendations in one place. The corresponding limitation is ecosystem dependence. Recommendations draw on Amazon-associated activity and its commercial catalog, so they may be useful for finding available titles without serving as an independent or editorially neutral guide. Amazon’s launch materials do not establish the recommendation system’s transparency or the influence of commercial availability on ranking.
