Amazon’s NBA deal is no longer a future plan: Prime Video began streaming games in the 2025–26 season under an 11-year agreement running through 2035–36. In the U.S., its package includes 66 regular-season games each season, assigned NBA Cup games, all six 2025–26 Play-In Tournament games, and a share of the playoffs. It does not include every NBA game, and ABC remains the U.S. home of the NBA Finals under the announced deal.
What Amazon’s NBA deal includes
The NBA announced the agreement on July 24, 2024. It gives Amazon a defined slate of national and international rights—not control of all NBA broadcasts. Prime Video’s first season was 2025–26; its first announced doubleheader, on October 24, 2025, featured Boston at New York and Minnesota at the Los Angeles Lakers. The agreement covers 11 seasons, from 2025–26 through 2035–36. The NBA’s announcement sets out the rights package and term.
For U.S. viewers, Amazon’s package includes:
- 66 regular-season games per season.
- Assigned Emirates NBA Cup knockout-stage games, including the semifinals and championship game.
- All six games of the 2025–26 NBA Play-In Tournament.
- Approximately one-third of first- and second-round playoff games.
- One Conference Finals series in six of the 11 seasons, rotating with NBCUniversal. The rotation begins in 2026–27.
Amazon also became the NBA’s primary third-party digital distributor for League Pass. That distribution role is separate from the games included with a Prime Video subscription: League Pass remains a separate product, with its own access conditions and blackouts.

Rights and schedules can vary by season and event. The NBA Finals distinction is important: the deal announcement’s international provisions include Finals games in some territories, but the U.S. Finals remain with ABC/ESPN under the announced arrangement.

Which games are on Prime Video?
The 2025–26 schedule generally placed Amazon games on Fridays, with Thursday games later in the season, select Saturday afternoon games, at least one Black Friday game, and special international matchups. Those patterns are not a guarantee that every game on one of those days is on Prime Video. Check the NBA’s game-by-game Prime Video schedule for the season and the NBA’s viewing guide for the broader broadcast lineup.
Amazon has exclusive U.S. rights to the six Play-In games in the 2025–26 package and carries its assigned NBA Cup games. Regular-season exclusivity applies to individual games in Amazon’s package—not to the league as a whole. A game’s date, time or broadcaster can change, so check the current schedule rather than relying on a typical night of the week.

What Prime Video does not provide
A Prime Video subscription does not unlock every nationally televised NBA game or every game from a viewer’s local team. ESPN/ABC and NBC/Peacock carry their own national slates, while local broadcasts and out-of-market games are handled separately. Fans following a team may need more than one service, depending on that team’s schedule and where they live.
NBA League Pass is another option for out-of-market games, but it is not a workaround for every restriction. Local-market blackouts and national broadcast rules can limit availability. Amazon’s role as the primary third-party digital distributor does not mean League Pass is bundled into Prime Video. Fans can access or purchase it through NBA platforms and participating providers, subject to market and platform terms. See the NBA’s 2025–26 viewing FAQ and U.S. provider information for details.

Is Prime Video enough for you?
- Casual viewer: It may be enough if you mainly want the games assigned to Amazon, including its tournament coverage.
- Fan of one team: Check the team’s full broadcast schedule first. Prime Video alone is unlikely to carry every game.
- Out-of-market or multi-team fan: Consider whether League Pass fits your needs, and check blackouts before subscribing.
- Viewer seeking the full national slate: Expect games to be split among Prime Video, ESPN/ABC and NBC/Peacock; one service does not cover them all.
- Viewer outside the U.S.: Do not assume this U.S. breakdown applies. Amazon’s package differs by territory; consult the NBA’s local viewing information.
Prime Video’s 2025–26 viewing features included customizable Multiview, which can show up to four games for viewers with Prime Video and NBA League Pass, along with Numbers Game statistics and Rapid Recap highlights for viewers joining late. Feature availability may depend on the device, subscription and market; the NBA’s season viewing guide describes the offering.

The agreement adds a major technology company to the NBA’s national broadcast partners and gives the league another route to stream live games. It also places Amazon in a broader role through its League Pass distribution arrangement, rather than limiting its involvement to a set of individual matchups.

The new arrangement replaced the previous three-partner structure that included Turner Sports/TNT with one involving Disney, NBCUniversal and Amazon. That transition followed a dispute over Warner Bros. Discovery’s matching proposal; the NBA said its proposal did not match Amazon Prime Video’s offer. It is more accurate to describe the result as a reallocation of rights among partners than as Amazon simply “buying out TNT” or taking over the NBA. See the NBA’s statement on Warner Bros. Amazon and the NBA also announced a separate AWS partnership involving interactive basketball analytics, including Play Finder. AWS technology and Prime Video’s media-rights package are related parts of a broader partnership, but they are not the same agreement. The NBA describes the technology work in its AWS partnership announcement.

What changes in 2026–27?
The deal enters its second season in 2026–27, when Amazon’s rotating U.S. Conference Finals role begins. Amazon is set to carry one Conference Finals series in six of the 11 agreement years, rotating with NBCUniversal. The change does not make Prime Video the home of both conference finals every year, and it does not transfer the U.S. Finals from ABC/ESPN.
