Amazon Prime Video combines movies and series included with Prime with rentals, purchases, paid channel subscriptions, free ad-supported programming, and some live sports. In Amazon’s U.S. guide for 2026, Prime costs $14.99 a month or $139 a year; Prime Video Ultra is listed as an additional $4.99 a month. Prime Video Ad Free removes advertising from most on-demand Prime movies and shows, but not from every kind of content.
What can I watch on Prime Video?
The service brings together Amazon MGM Studios productions, licensed movies and series, live sports, and other live events. Amazon’s U.S. guide names Fallout, Reacher, and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power as examples. These are examples, not a promise that a title is available in every country or will remain in the catalog.
Before you press play, check the title’s detail page. Prime Video presents different kinds of access in the same service, and a title appearing in search does not necessarily mean it is included with membership.
- Included with Prime: No separate title charge while the title remains in the Included with Prime catalog.
- Rent or buy: A separate charge for the title. Rentals have a limited viewing period; check the title page and applicable terms.
- Add-on subscription: A recurring subscription to another service, billed in addition to Prime membership.
- Pay-per-view: One-time access to a live event or special release where offered.
- Free with ads: Select programming available without a title purchase but with advertising and possible restrictions.
Amazon says it adds and removes titles from the Included with Prime catalog. The catalog, offers, and terms vary by location and can change over time.

How much is Prime Video in the U.S.?
Amazon’s U.S. guide lists Prime at $14.99 per month or $139 per year in 2026, with Prime Video included as a Prime membership benefit. The same guide lists Prime Video Ultra at an additional $4.99 per month. These are U.S. figures, not worldwide prices. Check the Amazon marketplace for your country for current pricing, plan names, and offers.
Amazon also offers paid Prime Video channel subscriptions. Their price is separate from Prime membership and from any other plan upgrade. Channel availability and prices can change; compare the channel’s own offer with its current Prime Video add-on price before subscribing.

X-Ray provides behind-the-scenes information about supported titles. Amazon describes Shop the Show as a U.S. experience; availability and functionality may depend on the title, device, and location.
Downloads for offline viewing
Some eligible titles can be downloaded temporarily on compatible devices. The title page indicates whether a download is available. Amazon’s usage rules say subscription-title downloads typically must be started within 30 days and finished within 48 hours after playback begins, but the applicable window can vary by content type and location. Check the title page and local rules rather than treating those timings as universal.

Paid channels in one app
Prime Video can manage additional subscriptions from services such as HBO Max, Apple TV, Peacock Premium Plus, FOX One, Paramount+, MGM+, STARZ, Crunchyroll, AMC+, and BritBox in the U.S. Amazon’s examples were current in its September 17, 2026 channels update; availability differs by region. A channel subscription remains a separate recurring payment even when watched through Prime Video.
Which devices support Prime Video?
Amazon groups supported devices into Amazon devices, Blu-ray players, game consoles, mobile devices, computers, set-top boxes and media players, and smart TVs. The exact models and capabilities vary: some devices stream, some support downloads, and some do both. Support may depend on manufacturer software and can change.

- Getting set up is easy – Plug in and connect to Wi-Fi for smooth streaming.
- Open Amazon’s supported-device list for your country and check the exact model, not just the device brand or category.
- Update the device software and the Prime Video app, then sign in with the account that has the relevant membership or purchase.
- If your TV does not support the app, check whether a compatible console or existing media player can run it before considering another streaming device.
How do I avoid ads on Prime Video?
Amazon says Prime Video Ad Free removes ads from most on-demand Prime movies and TV shows. It does not remove advertising from free ad-supported programming, live TV, or sports events. Promotional trailers may still appear before a movie or show; Amazon says they can be skipped but cannot be removed with Ad Free. A title page may identify free content as “watch with ads” or “with ads.”

- On the Prime Video website: Open Your Account, select Go Ad Free, and start the subscription.
- On supported TVs and players: Open Settings → Prime → Go Ad Free → Start Subscription. Amazon lists Fire TV, smart TVs, game consoles, and set-top boxes for this route where available.
- For cancellation: Use the account’s subscription controls. Amazon says the subscription can be cancelled and applies to profiles linked to the account.
Amazon lists Ad Free availability in Austria, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Türkiye, and the United Kingdom. Its help pages describe the option as monthly except in India, where an annual option is also listed. Amazon identifies Prime Video Ultra as available to U.S. customers. Plans and country availability can change, so check the plan options shown in your local account.

How to choose the right way to watch
Start with the specific movie, series, or event you want, then compare its access label and total cost. A title included with Prime may be the least expensive option if you already have membership; a rental, purchase, or channel subscription may cost extra even though it appears in the same app.
