Amazon’s “all-new” Luna was a 2025 redesign of its cloud-gaming service, built around GameNight: living-room party games that let players use smartphones instead of dedicated controllers. Its headline attraction was Courtroom Chaos: Starring Snoop Dogg, an improv game in which an AI-driven Judge Snoop reacts to players’ invented cases. Luna was not a new console, and the relaunch did not make every game phone-controlled or included with Prime.
What Amazon changed with Luna
Luna streams games from remote servers to supported devices, so players do not need to install each game locally or own a gaming console. Amazon’s October 2025 relaunch repositioned the service around social play: GameNight, a rotating selection of more than 50 games included with Prime at the time of the announcement, and a broader paid catalog through Luna Premium. Amazon described this as a redesign of Luna, not an entirely new cloud-gaming platform. Amazon Game Studios’ launch announcement and About Amazon’s overview explain the change.
The practical pitch is convenience: start a game on a supported screen without downloading it, and in GameNight, invite people to join with phones they already have. The trade-off is that the games are streamed. A dependable internet connection matters, and picture quality and responsiveness can vary with the network, device and location. Amazon’s performance language is not a guarantee that every player will get the same experience.

GameNight is the party-game part of Luna, designed for a group playing together in the same room. The TV displays the game; each player scans a QR code on the screen with a smartphone and follows the joining prompts. The phone’s touchscreen then acts as that player’s controller. Player limits and the controls differ by game.

- When the game displays its joining QR code, have each player scan it with a phone.
- Follow the instructions on the phone and TV, then start the session.
This phone-based setup applies to GameNight titles, not to Luna as a whole. Amazon says conventional Luna games generally need a compatible controller or, where supported, a mouse and keyboard. A Luna Controller is optional; it is not a requirement for GameNight.
If a phone will not join, practical first checks include making the QR code easier to scan, confirming that both the phone and streaming device are online, and checking whether the game has reached its player limit. If controls feel delayed, a stronger Wi-Fi connection and less network congestion may help. A game that asks for a gamepad is likely not a phone-controlled GameNight title. These are general troubleshooting steps, not a guarantee that every device or connection will work.

What is Courtroom Chaos: Starring Snoop Dogg?
Amazon introduced Courtroom Chaos: Starring Snoop Dogg as an AI-powered, voice-driven improv courtroom game. Players make up characters and arguments, taking roles such as plaintiff, defendant or witness; an AI-driven Judge Snoop responds to their cases. In GameNight, phones provide the controls.
The wording matters: Amazon describes an AI-driven character, not Snoop Dogg personally improvising every response. The title is a game built around a digital, AI-mediated Judge Snoop persona—not a music-streaming product, and not evidence that the artist is physically present in a session. Amazon’s announcement does not establish technical details about the underlying AI or how it was developed.

Other games in the launch-era lineup
Amazon’s 2025 launch materials named more than 25 GameNight-oriented multiplayer games. Examples included Angry Birds Flock Party, Draw & Guess, Exploding Kittens 2, Flappy Golf Party, Taboo, Ticket to Ride, Clue and The Jackbox Party Pack 9, alongside Courtroom Chaos: Starring Snoop Dogg. This is a launch-era snapshot, not a promise that every title is available now; Amazon describes the Prime selection as rotating, and games have different player counts and input needs.
What Prime includes—and what it does not
At the relaunch, Amazon said Prime members could play GameNight and a rotating library of more than 50 games without an additional Luna fee. “Included” does not mean that Prime itself is free, that the catalog is permanent, or that every game on Luna is covered. Amazon also described Luna Premium as a paid tier offering the Prime selection plus additional games, replacing the previous Luna+ subscription in its 2025 materials. The available research does not establish a current Premium price, so check Luna’s own signup details before subscribing.

Amazon’s 2025 U.S. relaunch article listed Prime at $14.99 per month or $139 per year, with discounted programs for eligible groups. Those are figures from that announcement, not a verified current checkout quote; check Amazon’s Prime page for current terms. Likewise, an older Amazon article’s $69.99 Luna Controller price is historical, not a confirmed current price. If GameNight is all you want, buying a Luna Controller is unnecessary.
Where and how to play
Amazon’s 2025 announcement listed Luna cloud gaming in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Portugal, Belgium and Luxembourg. Availability of particular apps, devices and games can still vary by country and model, so check Luna’s current service information rather than assuming any smart TV will work.

There is also a newer route into the service. On July 23, 2026, Amazon announced Luna games in a Games tab inside the Prime Video app on Fire TV for U.S. and U.K. Prime members. That is a narrower integration than Luna’s country list: it should not be read as a worldwide Prime Video Games rollout. Amazon’s later examples included Clue, Ticket to Ride and Taboo. The announcement promoted a separate title, Courtroom Chaos: Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, not a replacement name for the Snoop Dogg game. See Amazon Game Studios’ July 2026 announcement.
For GameNight, the essentials are a supported screen running Luna, internet access and a smartphone for each player. For other Luna games, check the title’s input requirements; a compatible controller or mouse and keyboard may be needed. Phones avoid the need to buy several gamepads for party sessions, but they are not a universal substitute.
Is Luna a good fit?
Luna is most appealing to Prime households that want an easy, shared game night and are happy to use phones for party games. It can also suit people without a console who want to try streamed games on devices they already own. The Prime Video entry point makes the experience easier to find for eligible Fire TV users in the U.S. and U.K.

It may also disappoint anyone who assumes every title is included with Prime or that every game supports local multiplayer and phone controls. If the priority is a deeper controller-led ecosystem, Xbox Cloud Gaming, GeForce NOW or PlayStation Plus cloud streaming may be worth comparing, subject to each service’s current regional, device and subscription terms. A Nintendo Switch is a different trade-off: dedicated hardware and purchased games, rather than cloud access.
The larger change since the Snoop Dogg launch is Luna’s appearance inside Prime Video on Fire TV in two markets. That supports the interpretation that Amazon is drawing gaming closer to its entertainment ecosystem; it does not make the 2025 Snoop Dogg title the whole service. Snoop was the original headline attraction, while Amazon’s 2026 announcement highlighted a distinct Arnold Schwarzenegger courtroom game.
