How to watch the match now
The original live broadcast information should not be mistaken for a current replay guarantee. ESPN’s official 2025 coverage announcement documented first-ball-to-last-ball US Open coverage across its platforms in the territory covered by that announcement. That included ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPN on Disney+.
Because the match has been completed, the most reliable way to look for an authorized replay, condensed match, or highlights is:
- Check ESPN’s official schedule tool. Search by the match date, September 5, 2025, and look for the US Open or Alcaraz–Djokovic listing.
- Check the official US Open channels. Tournament video pages may offer highlights or other clips, subject to the tournament’s current publishing and geographic rights.
- Confirm your location. Replay libraries, live-sports subscriptions and video clips can differ by country or region.
- Check whether a subscription or TV-provider login is required. The fact that ESPN carried the 2025 event does not establish a current price, replay window or access requirement.
Do not rely on an old “watch live” listing as proof that the full match is still available. Sports rights and on-demand windows can expire or move between services.
Original 2025 broadcast and start-time information
The official 2025 preview listed the semifinal for Arthur Ashe Stadium with a start time of not before 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time on September 5. “Not before” was a session-floor time rather than a guarantee of the exact first ball. Tennis schedules can move because of earlier matches, ceremonies, weather and other court delays.

For historical U.S. viewing, ESPN announced exclusive first-ball-to-last-ball coverage of the 2025 US Open across ESPN platforms, including ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPN on Disney+ in the territory specified by its announcement. That statement is useful for identifying the original broadcaster, but it should not be used to infer 2026 U.S. rights or current access.
Why the semifinal mattered
The matchup brought together a 24-time Grand Slam champion and one of the leading players of the next generation. Djokovic entered with the statistical advantage, holding a 5–3 career lead over Alcaraz. The US Open, however, had not previously hosted a meeting between them.
Alcaraz’s victory was significant for another reason: it was his first hard-court win over Djokovic. He closed out the contest without dropping a set, winning the opening set 6–4, taking a tight second-set tiebreak 7–4, and finishing the third set 6–2.
The result advanced Alcaraz to the 2025 US Open final and ended Djokovic’s run at the semifinal stage. The scoreline also explains why a replay or highlights package may be more useful than a pre-match viewing guide: the match is already decided, and the official match report is the definitive source for the result.
