All four original ABBA members—Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid “Frida” Lyngstad—are alive as of August 9, 2026. They have not returned to conventional touring as a four-person live band. Instead, their main shared project is ABBA Voyage, the London concert production built around digital versions of the group performing with a live backing band.
Their individual lives now follow different paths. Björn remains highly visible through songwriting, creators’ rights advocacy and business projects, while Benny continues composing and working with Benny Anderssons Orkester. Agnetha has returned to recording selectively but generally avoids the spotlight. Frida maintains the most private public profile, making only occasional appearances.

Agnetha Fältskog: selective recording and a private life
Agnetha Fältskog has largely stepped back from the public spotlight, but she has not vanished from music. Her latest major solo release is A+, released on October 13, 2023.
A+ revisited and reworked her 2013 solo album A. It also added the new song “Where Do We Go From Here?”, making the project her first solo release of new material in a decade. The album was announced by BMG as a new chapter rather than a return to the kind of sustained promotional campaign associated with ABBA’s peak years.

Agnetha’s current status is best described as private and musically selective. She has not been publicly confirmed as working on another solo album as of the August 9, 2026 cutoff. That is different from saying she has formally retired: there is no current statement establishing an irreversible retirement from recording.
An interview originally published on April 4, 2024 and later republished by Rolling Stone Germany helps explain her limited public activity. Agnetha said she was not especially interested in social media, preferred a private life and found that songwriting no longer came as easily as it had earlier in her career. Because the interview was republished in 2026, it should not be presented as a newly conducted 2026 interview.
For fans, that means Agnetha remains part of ABBA’s continuing digital-era legacy and may still record when a project feels right, but there is no confirmed new solo campaign to report. Claims about her health, exact home or private routine are not necessary to answer where she is now and should not be treated as established facts.

Björn Ulvaeus: songwriting, business and creators’ rights
Björn Ulvaeus is the most publicly visible ABBA member outside the group’s music. He remains associated with songwriting, production, publishing, entrepreneurship and the wider commercial and cultural legacy surrounding ABBA and Mamma Mia!.
His most prominent current institutional role is at CISAC, the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers. In June 2026, he was re-elected president for the 2026–2029 term. The role puts him at the center of international discussions about copyright and the rights of creators.
Artificial intelligence has become a major part of that advocacy. Björn has argued for stronger protection for human creators as AI systems are developed and used in music and other creative fields. In a CISAC statement, he addressed the need to bring creators’ concerns into the policy debate around AI.
He has also discussed writing a musical with assistance from AI. In 2025, he described the technology as useful for overcoming creative blocks, while acknowledging that it was less successful at producing complete songs and lyrics. This is a reported work in progress, not a confirmed released musical: no public premiere date, title, venue or production schedule should be implied without a later official announcement. Variety Australia reported his comments.
Björn’s current work therefore extends well beyond performing. He continues to use his experience as a songwriter and music-business figure to discuss how creators can be credited and paid in an era of streaming, artificial intelligence and rapidly changing technology.
Benny Andersson: still composing and working with BAO
Benny Andersson remains the member most consistently focused on music itself. He continues to compose, work at the piano and develop music outside ABBA’s catalog.
At the June 2026 education event connected with ABBA Voyage, Benny said that he still sits at the piano every day, although new ideas come less frequently than they once did. His continuing relationship with composition is important: the end of ABBA’s regular recording career did not end his work as a musician.

Benny’s principal post-ABBA ensemble is Benny Anderssons Orkester, usually shortened to BAO. The group’s music is not simply an extension of ABBA’s polished international pop. BAO draws more heavily on Swedish folk traditions, dance-band music, orchestral writing and instrumental influences.

It is useful to distinguish Benny’s ongoing work with BAO from ABBA activity. BAO is his own ensemble, not a renamed version of ABBA, and a BAO release should not be described as a new ABBA album. Likewise, Benny’s continuing composition does not mean that a new ABBA project has been announced.
Frida Lyngstad: a low-profile public life
Anni-Frid “Frida” Lyngstad has maintained the quietest public profile of the four members. The official ABBA biography describes her post-ABBA life as low-key and connected with charitable work.
Frida is no longer pursuing a regular solo recording career in the way she did during the years immediately after ABBA. The latest recording identified in ABBA’s official biography is a Spanish-language version of “Andante, Andante,” made with Arturo Sandoval and released in 2018. The collaboration is also documented by Universal Music Italy.
That does not establish that Frida has permanently retired from music. It does show that there is no verified new Frida solo album or comparable recording campaign to report as of August 2026.
Frida made a rare recent public appearance with Benny at an ABBA Voyage event in London in June 2026. The event celebrated an expanded education programme in East London. Frida said that the four members remain friends, while noting that they live in different countries. The Guardian reported the appearance and her comments.
“Low profile” should not be turned into speculation about Frida’s exact residence, health, finances or day-to-day life. The confirmed public picture is narrower but more reliable: she lives privately, remains connected to the ABBA story, supports charitable causes and appears selectively when she chooses.

What ABBA is doing together: ABBA Voyage
The four members’ principal shared project is ABBA Voyage, the purpose-built concert production at the ABBA Arena in London. It opened in May 2022 and remains active, with tickets being sold into 2027 through the show’s official site and ticketing information.

The four members do not appear onstage as their present-day selves. Instead, the production features digital versions of the members—often referred to as ABBAtars—performing with a live backing band.
The distinction matters:
- It is not a standard live concert by four current human performers.
- It is not a tribute act.
- It is not technically a hologram show, according to the official FAQ.
- It is a continuing ABBA production using digital representations of the group and live musicians.
“Hologram” is often used by media coverage as shorthand, but the official ABBA Voyage FAQ specifically rejects that label. “Digital versions,” “digital avatars” or “ABBAtars” are more accurate descriptions.
The show allows ABBA to remain a live entertainment presence without requiring Agnetha, Björn, Benny and Frida to resume the physical demands of a touring career. It is therefore both a continuation of ABBA and something different from a four-member reunion onstage.
Have all four members reunited in person?
The answer depends on what “reunited” means. The members have appeared together occasionally since ABBA stopped functioning as an active recording and touring unit in 1982. They also reunited privately for a performance connected with a 50th-anniversary event in 2016, and all four were involved in the recording of the material that became Voyage.

But those facts should not be collapsed into the claim that ABBA has resumed normal live performance. There are four separate categories:

- Appearing together at an event: The members have made occasional appearances connected with ABBA’s legacy and honors, including the 2024 Swedish royal honors.
- Individual members visiting ABBA Voyage: Benny and Frida appeared together at the June 2026 education event.
- Performing live as four human musicians: No verified conventional four-member concert has taken place after ABBA’s active touring era.
The June 2026 appearance was by Benny and Frida, not all four members. It was a public appearance connected with education, not the announcement or performance of a new ABBA tour.
Are ABBA still friends?
According to Frida’s own comments at the June 2026 ABBA Voyage education event, the four members remain friends. That is the most defensible current answer.
It does not mean they appear together regularly or that they spend a large amount of private time together. The members live separate lives in different countries and have different levels of public activity. “Still friends” is confirmed; the frequency and depth of their private contact are not public facts.
Will ABBA make another album or go on tour?
There is no confirmed new ABBA studio album or conventional four-member reunion tour in the public announcements reviewed through August 9, 2026. The latest official ABBA studio album remains Voyage, released in 2021, and the active collective project remains ABBA Voyage.
This wording is deliberately precise. It reports the absence of a confirmed announcement without claiming that the members could never record or perform together again. No new Agnetha solo album, Frida solo album or premiere date for Björn’s AI-assisted musical has been publicly confirmed either.
