9-1-1: Lone Star was back in production by March 5, 2024, FOX confirmed. That date establishes production was underway, but it does not identify the season’s first day of filming. FOX later scheduled the 12-episode season’s premiere for September 23, 2024.
What FOX confirmed about production
On March 5, 2024, FOX posted, “@911LoneStar is back in production!!!” TV Insider reported the announcement the following day and reproduced the post: TV Insider’s production report.
“Back in production” means work on season 5 had resumed by March 5. The announcement does not say that filming began that day, so the precise first day on set is not confirmed by the available report.
What followed: a fall premiere and a 12-episode plan
TV Insider reported that season 5 was planned for 12 episodes and a fall 2024 airing. FOX subsequently set the premiere for Monday, September 23, 2024, in its fall 2024 schedule announcement. The episode count was a reported plan; the September date was FOX’s announced premiere date.

Where the season fits in the series
The Austin-set drama follows the 126 Fire Department and its first responders, led by Captain Owen Strand, played by Rob Lowe. FOX’s schedule description says Owen and his adult son, T.K., moved to Texas to help rebuild the firehouse after a tragedy.
During the production period, TV Insider also identified “Both Sides, Now” as the title on the premiere script in a February 26 post. That was the script title reported at the time; it is not, by itself, confirmation of the final broadcast title.
