Cassie Ventura, whose stage name is Cassie, testified for the prosecution at Sean Combs’s federal trial in New York beginning May 13, 2025. Her testimony described alleged violence, sexual encounters she said Combs directed, pressure to participate, and what she said happened after their relationship ended. The eight points below organize the reported account; they are not an official court-established list of revelations.
What Cassie said in her testimony
1. She described a relationship marked by alleged violence
The Associated Press reported that Ventura portrayed her relationship with Combs as turbulent and consumed by violence. This is her account as reported at trial, not a finding that a court made about every incident. The Associated Press’s report covered the start of her testimony on May 13, 2025.
2. She said Combs directed encounters with male sex workers
AP reported that Ventura testified Combs directed her encounters with male sex workers during what he called “freak offs.” AP also described her account of his directions about the amount of baby oil she applied to achieve the “glistening” look he wanted. That description is AP’s reporting, not a transcript quotation presented here. Read AP’s account.
3. She said she sometimes did not want to take part
In testimony reported by NPR on May 13, Ventura said she did not want to participate in a Freak Off, anticipated that Combs would propose one, and tried to do “damage control.” Her account describes how she understood the pressure around these encounters; it should not be reduced to a claim that she welcomed every encounter simply because she participated in some. NPR’s report describes this testimony.

4. She said the encounters continued for about a decade
Reuters reported Ventura testified that Freak Offs continued for about a decade. The duration is a characterization of her reported testimony, not an independently verified count of events. Reuters’s May 2025 report covered her account.
5. She described a change in why she participated
According to Reuters, Ventura testified that she first participated in Freak Offs to please Combs and later said he blackmailed her with videos. This is her explanation of how her participation changed over time, as reported by Reuters; it is not a jury finding on the truth of each allegation. See Reuters’s account.

6. She testified Combs raped her in 2018
Reuters reported that Ventura testified Combs raped her in 2018, after their more-than-decade-long relationship had ended. This is an allegation she made under oath, not an adjudicated finding. Reuters reported her testimony.
7. The testimony came from the former partner known professionally as Cassie
Cassie is the stage name of Casandra Ventura, Combs’s former partner and a prosecution witness. Reuters described her as the prosecution’s star witness. The identity and relationship provide context for her testimony, but neither determines whether a particular allegation is true. Reuters’s report identifies her role and account.

8. Her account was one part of a case the jury decided charge by charge
Ventura’s allegations were evidence for jurors to consider alongside the rest of the case. Other witnesses also testified: Reuters reported that a friend described a separate alleged balcony incident. That was the friend’s testimony, not an incident to attribute to Ventura’s own testimony. Reuters’s coverage distinguishes the witnesses’ accounts.

The trial later concluded with a mixed verdict. On July 2, 2025, jurors acquitted Combs of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy and found him guilty on prostitution-related transportation offenses. Those are distinct outcomes: the convictions do not turn the acquitted charges into guilty findings, and the acquittals do not establish that every part of Ventura’s testimony was false. Reuters reported the verdict.
