The best free Valentine ecard service depends on what “free” means to you. 123Greetings is the quickest route to a ready-made animated or musical card. Canva and Adobe Express let you create and share a custom design, although some assets or export features may be premium. American Greetings has a limited free selection; its broader catalog is tied to a seven-day trial or membership.

This is an editorial fit guide based on each service’s published workflow, not a timed hands-on test.
1. Canva: best for a custom photo Valentine
Canva’s Valentine card maker offers hundreds of templates, drag-and-drop editing, and free photos and graphics. It is the strongest choice when the card should feel made for one particular person rather than selected from a catalog.
- Open the Valentine card maker.
- Choose a template or start blank.
- Replace the sample wording with a specific message and add a photo or free graphic.
- Check each element for a premium marker before exporting or sharing.
- Use Canva’s current share, download or publish controls to deliver it.
Sharing and download options, as well as whether sign-in is required, can depend on the design and export method. Canva is a poor fit if you want a one-click traditional ecard with no design decisions.

4. American Greetings: best for a professional catalog
American Greetings’ Valentine collection includes cards for partners, spouses, friends, family and children, with selected designs offering photos, video, custom messages, animation, music and Spanish-language options.
The service says a free account includes a limited amount of digital greetings. A seven-day trial provides unlimited sending and premium features, so it is a trial—not permanently unlimited free access. The main site displayed a $7.99 monthly plan, plus annual and two-year offers, when checked in August 2026; prices and promotions can change, so rely on the checkout terms rather than treating those figures as permanent. Set a calendar reminder before the trial ends and review cancellation conditions yourself.
