Pick a Valentine craft by the result you want and the time you have: stamped cards and paper collages are quick to set up, while recycled-paper keepsakes and decorations can need more drying, cleanup, or adult help. Here are 36 ideas for cards, decorations, gifts, and wearable projects, with practical notes on materials and preparation.
Quick Valentine cards and stamps
1. Cardboard-tube heart stamps
Flatten a toilet-paper tube, press one crease inward to form a heart, and tape it in shape. Dip the end in paint and stamp paper or blank cards. PBS KIDS labels this activity 10 minutes; that is the project’s stated duration, not a separate estimate of hands-on time. Setup and cleanup are modest, though paint can be messy. No drying is needed before stamping, but let the prints dry before stacking or writing on them. An adult can help shape and tape the tube or supervise paint use as needed. PBS KIDS instructions.
2. Paper Heart Valentine’s Day card
Make a folded card from paper and decorate its front with a cut or layered heart. Use the Albuquerque Museum family art catalog for the project download and full directions. Setup is light; cutting and glue may call for adult help depending on the maker. Drying depends on the materials and amount of adhesive.
3. Scrap-paper mosaic card
Arrange small pieces of leftover colored paper into a heart, initials, or a pattern on a folded card, then glue them down. This is a low-cost way to use scraps rather than a new pack of paper. It is easy to set up, but many small pieces mean a little more tidying. Allow the glue to dry before writing inside or mailing.

10. Recycled-paper 3D card
Layer newspaper or leftover tissue inside a heart-shaped cookie cutter, dampen and press the paper, then use a glue wash and attach the dried shape to an old greeting card.
