The 2025 MLS Season Pass opened for subscriptions on January 29, 2025, ahead of Major League Soccer’s 30th season. It offered every included MLS match without blackouts in more than 100 countries and regions, along with the playoffs, Leagues Cup, studio coverage, and other programming.
That standalone product is now historical: Apple and MLS ended MLS Season Pass after the 2025 season and moved MLS matches into the regular Apple TV subscription beginning in 2026.
What was announced in January 2025?
Apple opened subscriptions for the 2025 MLS Season Pass on January 29, 2025. The regular season began on February 22, with opening-weekend matches continuing through February 23.

The launch preceded MLS’s 30th season and the arrival of San Diego FC, which became the league’s 30th club. MLS scheduled 510 regular-season matches for 2025.

What did the 2025 pass include?
Apple and MLS marketed the package as a single destination for the league’s included competitions, with no blackouts in supported countries and regions. The 2025 package included:
- Every 2025 MLS regular-season match
- Audi MLS Cup Playoffs matches
- Leagues Cup
- MLS All-Star Game
- Campeones Cup
- Select MLS NEXT Pro matches
- Pregame, postgame, highlights, and recap programming
- English- and Spanish-language coverage
- Original analysis and studio shows
“No blackouts” applied to the MLS Season Pass inventory, not to every soccer competition available through Apple’s platforms. Geographic availability, subscription requirements, device support, and competition rights still mattered.

The $99 season plan was cheaper than paying $14.99 for seven months, although the best option depended on how long someone intended to watch and whether they wanted the postseason and other included competitions. Existing Apple TV+ subscribers received discounted MLS Season Pass pricing; the full 2025 pass was not simply included with Apple TV+.
Full-season MLS club-ticket accounts included MLS Season Pass in 2025. Qualified T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile customers also received a limited promotional offer for complimentary season-long access. Neither benefit automatically applied to every single-match ticket buyer or every wireless customer.

Apple promoted selected preseason matches as free in the Apple TV app, including LAFC vs. Club América on February 11 and Inter Miami vs. Orlando City on February 14, 2025. These were promotional exceptions, not free access to the full regular season.

Apple also announced that selected Sunday Night Soccer matches would be available to Apple TV+ subscribers. That was different from receiving the complete standalone MLS Season Pass package.
Sunday Night Soccer and San Diego FC’s debut
Sunday Night Soccer was introduced as a featured-match presentation for 2025 rather than merely another fixture on the schedule. It combined an evening showcase game with enhanced production, studio programming, and English- and Spanish-language graphics and coverage.
The inaugural presentation featured San Diego FC against reigning MLS Cup champion LA Galaxy on February 23, 2025, at 7 p.m. ET. Related programs included MLS Countdown, MLS La Previa, MLS Wrap Up, and MLS El Resumen. Apple’s season-opening announcement described the programming and opening-weekend coverage.
Where could viewers watch?
In 2025, MLS Season Pass was delivered through the Apple TV app and the web at tv.apple.com. Supported viewing categories included:

Apple added the Apple TV app to Android mobile devices through Google Play in February 2025. Android and Google TV users could subscribe through Google Play where supported.
App availability did not guarantee identical features on every device. Functions such as Multiview, spatial audio, and Live Activities depended on the platform, hardware, and operating-system version.
Who benefited most from the 2025 pass?
- Committed MLS fans: The package was designed for viewers following every match or multiple clubs.
- Out-of-market supporters: The no-blackout model was particularly useful for fans living away from their favorite team’s local market.
- Cord-cutters: A compatible device and internet connection could replace a traditional sports-TV package for MLS coverage.
- International viewers: The service was offered in more than 100 countries and regions, although availability was not universal.
- Season-ticket holders: Eligible full-season club-ticket accounts already included access.
- Casual viewers: Fans interested in only a few matches may not have needed a full-season or monthly subscription.
The pass’s main advantage was completeness. Selected free preseason games and Apple TV+ showcase matches were useful for sampling the coverage, but they did not substitute for the full package.

Important update: MLS Season Pass ended after 2025
On November 13, 2025, Apple and MLS announced a new arrangement beginning in 2026. The standalone MLS Season Pass would conclude after the 2025 season, while MLS matches would become part of the regular Apple TV subscription at no additional MLS-specific charge.

The announced 2026 package includes regular-season matches, Leagues Cup, the MLS All-Star Game, Campeones Cup, Audi MLS Cup Playoffs, and related coverage. Apple and MLS said matches would continue to be available in more than 100 countries and regions with no blackouts.
Therefore, as of 2026, there is no new 2025 MLS Season Pass subscription to buy. Readers seeking current MLS access should check the live Apple TV subscription page. The current subscription price varies by market and should not be confused with the historical 2025 prices listed above.

Apple TV, the Apple TV app, and Apple TV+ are different
These names are easy to mix up:
- Apple TV app: The application used to find and watch supported content on phones, televisions, streaming devices, consoles, browsers, and other platforms.
- Apple TV+: Apple’s broader subscription service for original television and film. In 2025, subscribers received discounted MLS Season Pass pricing and access to selected programming, not automatically the complete MLS pass.
- Apple TV hardware: Dedicated streaming hardware such as Apple TV 4K. It is optional if a viewer already owns a compatible smart TV, streaming stick, console, phone, tablet, or computer.
- MLS Season Pass: The separate 2025 MLS subscription, which ended after that season.
Businesses such as bars and restaurants should not assume a residential Apple TV subscription permits public exhibition. Commercial MLS access follows separate licensing arrangements, including options referenced by Apple through EverPass.
Was the 2025 pass worth buying?
For a fan who wanted every MLS match, followed several clubs, lived outside a team’s local market, or wanted uninterrupted access to the playoffs and league competitions, the 2025 pass was the most direct option. Existing Apple TV+ subscribers and eligible club-ticket holders had especially strong access routes.
For a casual viewer interested in only a few showcase games, selected Apple TV+ programming or promotional matches could be enough. The important practical distinction today is that this is a retrospective explanation of a 2025 product; current MLS viewers should evaluate the regular Apple TV subscription instead.
