10 Strongest Jujutsu Kaisen Characters in the Completed Manga, Ranked

Ryomen Sukuna is the strongest character in the completed Jujutsu Kaisen manga, with Satoru Gojo firmly in second. Sukuna’s victory over Gojo, mastery of Shrine and Malevolent Shrine, use of Ten Shadows and Mahoraga, and ability to continue fighting a succession of elite opponents give him the best overall case. Gojo remains the modern era’s unmatched benchmark, while Yuta, Kenjaku, Yuki, Yorozu, and Kashimo form the most debatable high-tier group below them.

Major manga spoilers: This ranking covers the main series through chapter 271 and includes endgame revelations. It does not include Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, which is treated as a separate sequel or spin-off rather than part of the completed main-series ranking.

How the ranking works

This is a ranking of each character at their strongest confirmed canon state, not at their average level and not at their maximum theoretical potential. The manga’s final battles make it possible to compare characters who were separated by different eras, bodies, techniques, and circumstances, but they do not create a perfectly objective numerical power scale.

  • Combat output: How much damage the character can reliably produce against a top-tier opponent.
  • Survivability: Durability, reverse cursed technique, defensive abilities, evasiveness, and the ability to keep fighting after serious injury.
  • Domains and anti-domain tools: Domain expansion, Simple Domain, domain knowledge, and practical answers to sure-hit techniques.
  • Versatility: The number of different matchups the character can handle through technique variety, cursed tools, summons, or tactics.
  • Consistency and opposition: Performance against elite opponents matters more than victories over ordinary enemies.
  • Assistance and conditions: External help, temporary transformations, one-use abilities, and unusually favorable matchups are counted, but they are not treated as automatically equivalent to a character’s ordinary strength.

The strongest confirmed state rule requires one important judgment call. Sukuna’s peak story performance involves both his own extraordinary skill and the Ten Shadows technique he controlled through Megumi’s body. Mahoraga’s adaptation is therefore credited as part of Sukuna’s strongest demonstrated combat package, but Mahoraga is not ranked as an independent sorcerer below.

The official VIZ chapter listing identifies chapter 271 as the final chapter, while the official Shonen Jump and volume listings identify volume 30 as the final volume. The ranking uses that completed main-manga evidence rather than anime-only presentation or hypothetical mastery of an unfinished technique.

Rank Character Strongest relevant state Defining advantage
1 Ryomen Sukuna Peak incarnated Sukuna, including his Ten Shadows battle state and restored Heian form The best combination of output, endurance, technique mastery, and battle IQ
2 Satoru Gojo Awakened adult Gojo Six Eyes, Limitless, Infinity, Unlimited Void, and elite close combat
3 Yuta Okkotsu Endgame Yuta with Rika, copied techniques, domain, and temporary body-transfer experience The broadest practical toolkit below the top two
4 Kenjaku Kenjaku inhabiting Suguru Geto’s body Centuries of knowledge, barriers, Cursed Spirit Manipulation, and preparation
5 Yuki Tsukumo Special-grade Yuki with Garuda and Star Rage Exceptional destructive force and a technique that can threaten the environment itself
6 Yorozu Heian-era Yorozu with Construction, liquid metal, armor, and domain Versatile offense and the terrifying Perfect Sphere condition
7 Hajime Kashimo Mythical Beast Amber Explosive speed, lethal electrical cursed energy, and overwhelming aggression
8 Yuji Itadori Final-arc Yuji Black Flash growth, soul-targeting attacks, Shrine, Blood Manipulation, and a domain
9 Toji Fushiguro Toji with his strongest confirmed cursed-tool inventory Heavenly Restriction, stealth, physical superiority, and matchup disruption
10 Maki Zenin Fully realized Heavenly Restriction Maki with the Split Soul Katana Toji-level physical ability combined with a weapon that bypasses ordinary durability

1. Ryomen Sukuna

Peak state: Sukuna at the height of the Shinjuku conflict, including his control of Megumi’s body and the Ten Shadows technique, followed by his restored Heian-era form.

Sukuna has the strongest overall case because he combines nearly every quality required to win a high-level jujutsu battle. His cursed-energy reserves are immense, his hand-to-hand combat is exceptional, and Shrine gives him devastating cutting attacks at both close and long range. Malevolent Shrine adds one of the most dangerous domain expansions in the series, while his reverse cursed technique allows him to recover from injuries that would end most fights.

His technical skill is just as important as his raw power. Sukuna understands barriers, binding vows, domain conditions, cursed-energy timing, and the precise weaknesses of opposing techniques at a level few characters can approach. During the Shinjuku conflict, he defeated Gojo and then continued through a rotating group of elite opponents that included Kashimo, Yuta, Yuji, Maki, Higuruma, Kusakabe, Miguel, and others. The official description for volume 30 also frames the climax around the effort to separate Sukuna from Megumi and notes Sukuna recovering strength through Black Flash during the final confrontation.

Sukuna’s first place does not mean that every exchange with Gojo favored him. Gojo won important phases of their battle and repeatedly created situations in which Sukuna was in serious danger. Sukuna ultimately used the Ten Shadows and Mahoraga’s adaptation to develop the world-cutting slash, an attack that bypassed the defensive framework of Infinity. That victory was strategically earned rather than a simple demonstration that Sukuna overpowered Gojo in every category.

The decisive point is that Sukuna found a way to win the most important one-on-one battle and still had enough resources to fight the remaining cast. Even when temporary advantages and outside circumstances are accounted for, no other character matches his completed-story combination of output, adaptability, survivability, and proven results.

2. Satoru Gojo

Peak state: Awakened adult Gojo after his breakthrough against Toji.

Gojo is the strongest modern sorcerer and the only character to sustain a battle with Sukuna that genuinely looked like a contest between near-equals. Six Eyes gives him extraordinary perception and cursed-energy efficiency, while Limitless provides Infinity, Blue, Red, Hollow Purple, and the foundation for his overwhelming spatial control.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Infinity makes most conventional attacks irrelevant before they can reach him. Blue can control space and pull targets into devastating collisions; Red supplies explosive repulsion; Hollow Purple combines the two into an attack with exceptional destructive force. Unlimited Void can incapacitate an opponent by flooding their mind with information, and Gojo’s close-range combat is strong enough that he remains dangerous even when neither fighter is relying on a domain.

His awakening after the Toji rematch established the modern era’s power benchmark. The official character material identifies him as a Gojo clan member who uses Limitless, and the manga’s central chapters 228 through 236 document the sustained confrontation with Sukuna. Gojo won several tactical and physical exchanges, damaged Sukuna severely, and demonstrated why nearly every other character treats him as an exceptional threat.

Gojo ranks below Sukuna because the completed canon outcome must matter. Sukuna’s adaptation strategy eventually produced a world-cutting attack that could bypass Infinity, and Gojo did not survive that solution. A ranking based on raw defensive ability, pre-adaptation performance, or the question of who looks more dominant in individual phases could place Gojo first. A ranking based on the full story’s strongest confirmed results places him second.

3. Yuta Okkotsu

Peak state: Endgame Yuta with Rika, reverse cursed technique, copied techniques, domain expansion, and his temporary use of Kenjaku’s body-transfer technique to operate Gojo’s body.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Yuta is the most versatile fighter below Sukuna and Gojo. As a special-grade sorcerer, he has enormous cursed-energy reserves, strong physical ability, reverse cursed technique, Rika, copied techniques, and a domain expansion. Each of those tools would make a character dangerous on its own; together they give Yuta answers to a remarkably wide range of opponents.

His endgame performance confirms that this versatility is not merely theoretical. Yuta fought Sukuna with Rika, used copied techniques and his domain, and continued contributing after the battle had already exhausted much of the strongest cast. He later used Kenjaku’s body-transfer technique to operate Gojo’s body, a temporary and highly unusual state that demonstrates his willingness to use an extreme option when the situation demands it. That experience should expand his peak résumé without pretending that a short-term body transfer makes him identical to Gojo in mastery.

The official character material presents Yuta as an exceptional individual capable of enduring Sukuna’s poison and identifies him as the executioner assigned to Yuji after Gojo’s sealing. His rise from a frightened first-year into the strongest active member of the post-Gojo generation is one of the series’ clearest power developments.

Yuta’s third-place position is safer than the placements of several characters below him because it is supported by a broad set of demonstrated tools. The main uncertainty is matchup-specific: it is not certain that Yuta defeats Kenjaku or Yuki in every possible battle. Kenjaku’s preparation and Yuki’s raw force could each create problems that Yuta’s versatility does not automatically solve. Overall reliability, however, gives Yuta the edge.

If you want an official reference while comparing clans, techniques, and character histories, the Jujutsu Kaisen Official Character Guide is a useful companion. It can clarify profiles and terminology, but it is reference material—not evidence that changes a manga feat or this ranking.

4. Kenjaku

Peak state: Kenjaku inhabiting Suguru Geto’s body and using Cursed Spirit Manipulation, his own body-hopping knowledge, domain expansion, anti-gravity, and advanced barrier techniques.

Kenjaku’s threat is broader than his direct striking power. His body-hopping technique has allowed him to accumulate centuries of experience, knowledge of jujutsu history, and familiarity with an enormous range of techniques and personalities. While inhabiting Geto’s body, he also gains Cursed Spirit Manipulation, giving him access to a large and varied arsenal of cursed spirits.

He possesses domain expansion, the anti-gravity technique, formidable barrier expertise, and the planning ability required to turn long-term schemes into functioning systems. He orchestrated the Culling Game and manipulated events involving Gojo, Tengen, the disaster curses, and ancient reincarnated sorcerers. Unlike a straightforward brawler, Kenjaku can attack through preparation, information control, body selection, cursed spirits, and layered plans.

Kenjaku’s final defeat is the main reason he sits below Yuta. He was overcome after Takaba created the distraction necessary for Yuta’s ambush, exposing how vulnerable even a centuries-old planner can be to an unexpected coordinated attack. That outcome does not erase his power; it shows that his greatest advantage is control of circumstances rather than an unquestionable superiority in a clean duel.

Under a preparation-heavy standard, Kenjaku could reasonably be ranked third. If the question is who offers the most dependable combat package in a changing battlefield, Yuta’s direct endgame growth and broader immediately available tools make third place more defensible.

5. Yuki Tsukumo

Peak state: Special-grade Yuki fighting alongside Garuda and using Star Rage at full demonstrated force.

Yuki is one of only four officially recognized special-grade sorcerers and possesses one of the series’ most destructive techniques. Star Rage lets her add virtual mass to herself and Garuda without proportionally turning them into slow, unusable objects. The result is extraordinary striking power that can be applied through both Yuki’s body and her shikigami.

Her battle with Kenjaku demonstrates much more than a single powerful punch. Yuki uses Garuda flexibly, understands domain mechanics, employs reverse cursed technique, and remains dangerous after suffering catastrophic injuries. Her final black-hole attack creates a destructive threat on a scale far beyond an ordinary close-quarters exchange and has consequences for the surrounding environment.

Kenjaku’s anti-gravity response countered Yuki’s final gambit, which is why her destructive potential cannot simply be converted into a higher ranking. Her manga career contains one major completed battle, giving her less evidence for consistency than Yuta or Kenjaku. She may have the highest peak destructive output among several characters ranked below the top four, but her overall toolkit and sample size are less complete.

6. Yorozu

Peak state: Heian-era Yorozu using Construction, liquid-metal applications, insect armor, and her domain expansion.

Yorozu was an elite Heian-era sorcerer whose Construction technique allowed her to produce far more than ordinary weapons. Her liquid-metal applications provide flexible offense and defense, while insect armor improves her physical combat ability. The combination lets her change the shape and function of her attacks rather than relying on one predictable pattern.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Her most dangerous option is the perfected sphere used with her domain. The technique creates an overwhelmingly dangerous contact condition, making a successful domain sequence potentially decisive against an opponent without an answer. Yorozu therefore has a clear win condition even against a much stronger close-range fighter.

She also forced Sukuna to rely on Ten Shadows and Mahoraga rather than simply treating the fight as a routine Shrine victory. That is a significant mark in her favor, although it must be interpreted carefully: Sukuna was interested in testing Mahoraga, so the battle does not provide a clean measurement of how close Yorozu was to defeating him.

Yorozu ranks above Kashimo because her domain, construction-based versatility, armor, and Perfect Sphere give her a more complete set of ways to win. The placement remains less certain than the top five because most of her strongest abilities are shown in one major battle.

7. Hajime Kashimo

Peak state: Kashimo using Mythical Beast Amber.

Kashimo was one of the most dangerous reincarnated sorcerers from the Edo period. Even in base form, the electrical property of his cursed energy makes every exchange hazardous. Opponents cannot treat blocking or trading blows with him as a neutral action because his cursed-energy effect creates a lethal follow-up threat.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Mythical Beast Amber temporarily transforms Kashimo’s body and grants extreme electrical and physical capabilities. The form represents a dramatic increase in speed, aggression, and output, and Kashimo was powerful enough to force Sukuna to reveal his true form after the Gojo battle. Few fighters would survive long against that level of pressure.

The limitation is severe: Mythical Beast Amber is a one-use, self-destructive transformation. Kashimo’s strongest showing also ended quickly against true-form Sukuna, leaving less evidence about his ability to adapt during a prolonged battle with a peer. Yorozu’s domain and broader win conditions therefore place her above him, but Kashimo still belongs comfortably in the top ten.

8. Yuji Itadori

Peak state: Final-arc Yuji during the fight to separate Sukuna from Megumi.

Endgame Yuji is not simply the physically gifted but technically inexperienced fighter who began the series. By the finale, he has developed Shrine and Blood Manipulation, reverse cursed technique, Simple Domain, a domain expansion, and much greater control over his already exceptional physical ability.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

His repeated Black Flash usage is central to his final-arc growth. Yuji’s compatibility with Sukuna’s cursed energy helps him remain effective against the King of Curses, while his attacks damage the boundary between Sukuna and Megumi’s souls. That gives him a form of matchup relevance that ordinary durability or physical toughness cannot fully answer.

The official description for volume 29 highlights Yuji’s Black Flash-powered awakening during the Sukuna conflict, and the volume 30 description centers on Yuji’s domain and his effort to separate Sukuna from Megumi. These are not isolated improvements: Yuji repeatedly returns to the fight after severe injuries and exhaustion, making his survivability and resolve part of his combat profile.

Yuji’s eighth place reflects his strongest completed form, not his early-series ranking. He is above most conventional special-grade candidates by the finale. Placing him above Yuki, Yorozu, or Kashimo would require assuming that his newest techniques are already as refined and battle-tested as theirs, which the manga has not conclusively established.

9. Toji Fushiguro

Peak state: Toji with his strongest confirmed cursed-tool inventory and fully exploiting Heavenly Restriction.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Toji’s Heavenly Restriction removes his cursed energy and replaces it with extraordinary physical ability, heightened senses, stealth, and weapon mastery. His lack of cursed energy also disrupts the assumptions behind many detection systems and barriers. Against an opponent who relies on sensing cursed energy, Toji can begin the fight from a position that ordinary sorcerers are not prepared to handle.

He defeated the young Gojo once during the Star Plasma Vessel mission, killed or incapacitated high-level targets, and later overwhelmed multiple sorcerers through speed, tactical preparation, and cursed tools. The official character material describes him as having no cursed energy but superhuman physical ability, while also recording that awakened Gojo ultimately defeated him.

Toji remains a top-ten candidate because he can turn a seemingly unfavorable matchup into an ambush and because many conventional techniques are less reliable against him. His ranking assumes access to his strongest confirmed equipment rather than an unarmed version; cursed tools are a major part of his threat.

He ranks below the endgame sorcerers because he has no confirmed domain expansion or reverse cursed technique, and the manga does not show him answering the most sophisticated modern domains. Against the right target, Toji can look unbeatable. Across the entire top-tier field, the lack of recovery and anti-domain options becomes a serious limitation.

10. Maki Zenin

Peak state: Maki after the Zenin clan massacre and the completion of her Heavenly Restriction, equipped with the Split Soul Katana.

Maki reaches a level comparable to Toji after Mai’s sacrifice and the destruction of the Zenin clan. She gains extreme physical power, speed, perception, and resistance to many conventional targeting methods. Her late-series experience also gives her a more developed understanding of how to apply that physical ability in battles against dangerous sorcerers.

The Split Soul Katana makes Maki especially threatening. Rather than treating an opponent’s body as an ordinary mass of flesh and cursed energy, the weapon cuts the soul directly. That gives her a way to bypass conventional durability and makes even a physically stronger opponent vulnerable if Maki can create the right opening.

Her participation in the late Shinjuku battles against Sukuna confirms that she belongs among the strongest physical fighters in the series. She is not merely a replacement for early-series Maki; her completed Heavenly Restriction puts her in the same broad category as Toji.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Maki ranks tenth because her best feats remain concentrated in physical combat and cursed-tool use. She has no confirmed domain expansion or reverse cursed technique, and her effectiveness depends more heavily on positioning and weapon access than Yuta’s, Kenjaku’s, or Yuki’s. Toji and Maki can reasonably be exchanged depending on whether a reader values Maki’s later experience and Split Soul Katana proficiency over Toji’s stealth, battle instinct, and earlier peak showings.

The closest omissions

Mahoraga

Mahoraga is the most obvious special-case omission. Its adaptation can eventually make it nearly impossible to defeat through a repeated technique, and its role in the Gojo fight is crucial to Sukuna’s victory. However, Mahoraga is a shikigami rather than an independently operating sorcerer, its strength is highly matchup-dependent, and Sukuna ultimately exorcised it. It is more useful to treat Mahoraga as a unique combat asset than to place it in the same all-purpose ranking as Yuta or Kenjaku.

Kinji Hakari

Hakari’s Jackpot gives him exceptional temporary survivability and effectively unlimited cursed energy during its active period. That makes him one of the hardest characters to put down in a direct fight. His demonstrated offensive ceiling and lack of a confirmed finishing option against the highest tiers keep him just outside this list. Hakari can outlast opponents who would defeat stronger-looking fighters, but surviving is not the same as reliably winning against Sukuna, Gojo, or the top special grades.

Suguru Geto

Geto’s special-grade status and Cursed Spirit Manipulation make him extremely dangerous, particularly in a battle where he has time to deploy a large and varied cursed-spirit arsenal. The problem is that Kenjaku’s use of Geto’s body provides a stronger late-series comparison: Kenjaku adds centuries of experience, barrier mastery, domain knowledge, and additional techniques. Ranking Kenjaku already accounts for the body’s potential at a higher level than Geto’s shown independent career.

What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.

Jogo and Mahito

Jogo and Mahito both possess lethal techniques and belong among the most dangerous curses. Mahito’s soul manipulation can end a fight quickly if the opponent cannot protect the soul, while Jogo has extraordinary firepower and speed. Neither, however, has the overall feats, consistency, or endgame scaling of the ten characters listed above.

Megumi Fushiguro

Megumi’s Ten Shadows technique has exceptional potential, but this ranking uses confirmed strongest versions rather than hypothetical mastery. Sukuna’s far more advanced use of Ten Shadows and Mahoraga is therefore credited to Sukuna, not retroactively to Megumi. A fully realized Megumi remains an intriguing possibility, not a confirmed top-ten result.

What the ranking says about the major debates

Sukuna versus Gojo

This is the least ambiguous conclusion if the standard is the completed story’s outcome: Sukuna is first and Gojo is second. Gojo may have superior defensive comfort in many matchups, and his fight contained stretches in which he appeared to have the advantage. Sukuna nevertheless solved Infinity, won the battle, and continued through the remaining elite fighters. That makes him the stronger overall confirmed character without diminishing Gojo’s status as the modern benchmark.

Yuta, Kenjaku, and Yuki

Ranks three through five should not be read as a universally stated numerical hierarchy. Yuta is the best all-around answer machine; Kenjaku is the most dangerous planner with preparation; Yuki has perhaps the most frightening destructive peak. A clean duel, an ambush, and a prepared battlefield could produce different winners. Yuta takes third because his broad endgame evidence is more reliable than Yuki’s single major fight and more directly combat-focused than Kenjaku’s final strategic defeat.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Yorozu versus Kashimo

Both are elite Heian or reincarnated-era threats, and both have a credible route to defeating almost anyone below the very top. Yorozu’s domain and Perfect Sphere give her more complete options, while Kashimo’s Mythical Beast Amber produces greater immediate pressure but is temporary and self-destructive. That difference in repeatable win conditions puts Yorozu ahead.

Toji versus Maki

These two are close enough that a swap is reasonable. Toji has the cleaner stealth-and-preparation résumé, while Maki has later experience, the completed Heavenly Restriction, and demonstrated proficiency with the Split Soul Katana. Neither has the domain or reverse-cursed-technique safety net of the sorcerers above them, so equipment and battlefield conditions can decide the comparison.

Read the final arc for yourself

Warning: The following recommendations are for readers who want to verify the manga’s ending and character development directly.

Readers who want to check the ending directly can start with Jujutsu Kaisen Vol. 30, the final volume of the main manga. New readers who want the complete story in print can choose the Jujutsu Kaisen Complete Box Set. Neither is required to understand this ranking, but the final arc is where Yuji’s completed abilities, Sukuna’s last battle, and the Toji–Maki comparison become most relevant.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Gojo stronger than Sukuna?

Gojo is the strongest modern sorcerer and fought Sukuna on near-even terms, but Sukuna ranks higher by the completed manga’s result. Sukuna used Ten Shadows and Mahoraga’s adaptation to develop the world-cutting slash, defeated Gojo, and continued fighting the remaining elite sorcerers.

Could Yuta defeat Kenjaku?

Yuta has a strong case in a direct fight because of Rika, copied techniques, reverse cursed technique, and his domain. Kenjaku remains more dangerous in a preparation-heavy scenario because of his centuries of knowledge, barriers, cursed spirits, and additional techniques. The ranking places Yuta above Kenjaku overall, not as a guaranteed winner in every hypothetical matchup.

Why is Mahoraga not included in the top ten?

Mahoraga’s adaptation can make it an overwhelming matchup-specific asset, but it is a shikigami rather than an independently operating sorcerer. It was also ultimately exorcised by Sukuna. Treating it separately would mix individual character rankings with summoned combat abilities.

Are Toji and Maki equally strong?

They are close after Maki completes her Heavenly Restriction. Toji has stronger evidence for stealth, preparation, and battle instinct, while Maki brings later experience and the Split Soul Katana. Their positions can reasonably be reversed depending on equipment and battlefield assumptions.

The Bottom Line

Sukuna is the strongest confirmed character in the completed main manga, with Gojo second and no serious rival to their top-two status. Yuta, Kenjaku, Yuki, Yorozu, and Kashimo occupy the most debatable high-tier range; Yuji’s eighth place reflects his extraordinary endgame growth; and Toji and Maki close the list as the series’ premier nonstandard physical fighters.
