This list covers the official Deadpool & Wolverine trailer released April 22, 2024—not the separate Super Bowl teaser from February. Its most recognizable callbacks include Wolverine’s comic-inspired suit, a buried 20th Century Fox logo, and imagery that recalls Old Man Logan. The comic connections are visual comparisons, not confirmation that the film adapts those stories.
The ten picks below focus on what appears in the April trailer and what those details may recall. The identifications come from a published trailer breakdown, not an official Marvel checklist; “Easter egg” here means a plausible reference, not confirmed filmmaker intent. GameSpot’s April 22 breakdown discusses the individual details.

1. Wolverine’s yellow-and-blue suit
Wolverine’s costume is the trailer’s clearest comics-facing callback. GameSpot compares its look mainly with Wolverine’s 2004 Astonishing X-Men appearance and also notes a resemblance to the character’s 1975 Giant-Size X-Men look. Treat these as visual comparisons rather than evidence of a direct adaptation.
2. The buried 20th Century Fox logo
A destroyed 20th Century Fox logo lies in the trailer’s wasteland. It points to the studio behind earlier X-Men, Wolverine, and Deadpool films, making it a particularly direct nod to the franchises’ screen history. The logo is visible; any broader message about the film’s intentions is interpretation.

#1 Best Overall
- Marvel Studios presents their most significant mistake yet. His days as Deadpool behind him, a listless Wade Wilson toils away in civilian life. But when his homeworld is threatened, he reluctantly suits up as he tries to convince Wolverine? oh hell, just watch. Warning: Some flashing-lights scenes in this film may affect photosensitive viewers.
3. The “third act flashback” joke
Deadpool tells Wolverine, “This is a third act flashback.” GameSpot connects the joke with the placement of a flashback in the Old Man Logan comic. The line plays on storytelling structure; it does not establish that the movie adapts that comic.
4. The Copper Heads sign
A bar sign reads “Copper Heads.” GameSpot notes possible links to Copperhead and Marvel’s Serpent Society, but the intended reference is not confirmed. The lettering is on screen; the comics connection remains a possibility, not a firm identification.

5. Deadpool’s barroom recruitment of Wolverine
Deadpool approaches Wolverine in a bar, a setup that recalls X-Men: First Class, where Professor X and Magneto try to recruit Logan. The parallel is a resemblance rather than a direct recreation of that earlier film scene.
6. “Smile. Wait for the flash.”
Text on Deadpool’s gun reads, “Smile. Wait for the flash.” It is a compact joke that pairs the language of posing for a photograph with the character’s violent comedy, rather than a major continuity clue.

- Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman reprise their roles as Deadpool and Wolverine in this superhero action adventure sequel directed by Shawn Levy.
7. The giant Ant-Man imagery
Cassandra Nova’s base is built around a gigantic Ant-Man suit. In the desert, that image also recalls the Giant-Man skeleton and suit in Old Man Logan. GameSpot presents the comic link as a possible visual echo, not proof that the film is borrowing the comic’s plot.
8. Dogpool
The dog licking Deadpool is Dogpool, a character who also exists in Marvel comics. The trailer establishes the visual gag and the character’s presence; it does not, by itself, establish a larger role or story significance.

9. Lady Deathstrike in the Void
Among the figures visible in the Void, GameSpot identifies Lady Deathstrike. Some other silhouettes in the group have been described with uncertainty, so it is safer not to turn every shadow into a confirmed returning character. The supported recognition is a callback to the wider X-Men film world.

The buried logo, the barroom echo of an earlier X-Men film, and the comics comparisons give the trailer a strong sense of history. Read together, these details can be taken as meta-commentary on the Fox-era screen franchises now appearing in a Marvel Studios film. That is an interpretation of the visible callbacks, not a stated creator explanation.

Why this is the April trailer—not the Super Bowl teaser
Marvel announced the official trailer on April 22, 2024, and linked to that footage in its release announcement. The February 11 Super Bowl teaser is a different video, with its own possible clues, including a birthday photo, apartment number, TVA imagery, and a fallen tree. Those teaser details are not counted here unless they also appear in the April footage.
Director Shawn Levy later described the balance behind the film’s references: “The difficult part is being disciplined so that you’re not just saying yes to every cameo, yes to every Easter egg. If you do too much of that, the audience isn’t going to invest in the story,” he said in a Disney interview published July 25, 2024. He described the central story as belonging to the two characters.
