The Deadpool & Wolverine trailers mix a TVA-driven multiverse setup with familiar faces and visual callbacks to earlier X-Men films. Some details are clearly identifiable; others, especially a possible Professor X appearance and a connection to Secret Wars, remain interpretation rather than confirmed story clues.
Two trailers, two different snapshots
The February 2024 Super Bowl teaser revealed the film’s full title and introduced Deadpool’s encounter with the Time Variance Authority (TVA), setting up a multiverse journey. It also offered quick glimpses of Wade’s circle, an X-Men-era character and Wolverine in a classic costume. GameSpot’s contemporaneous breakdown identifies several of these details while flagging some readings as uncertain: GameSpot’s February 13 trailer breakdown.
That teaser is distinct from the new trailer and posters Marvel Studios released on April 22, 2024, as announced by Disney Studios Publicity UK. The UK announcement listed a July 25, 2024 cinema release date for that territory; release dates can differ by market. The April trailer shifts more attention toward Wolverine and introduces a fuller look at Cassandra Nova, as discussed in Den of Geek’s April 22 analysis.
What the February teaser shows—and what it does not prove
The TVA and a multiverse trip
TVA members approach Deadpool, and the teaser places him on a multiverse journey. GameSpot notes a visual difference between the TVA logos shown and the organization seen in Loki, but the footage does not settle the precise continuity relationship. The TVA imagery is on screen; what it means for continuity is less certain.

Wade’s birthday-party circle
In the birthday imagery, GameSpot identifies familiar figures from earlier Deadpool films, including Blind Al, Buck, Colossus, Peter, Shatterstar, Vanessa, Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Yukio and Dopinder. These are identifications of people visible in the scene, not evidence that each character has a major role in the plot.
Pyro and a possible Professor X
GameSpot identifies Aaron Stanford as Pyro, the character he previously played in X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand. By contrast, the breakdown treats a glimpse of the back of a bald head as a possible Professor X—possibly Patrick Stewart—not a confirmed appearance. The footage cited there is not enough to report that sighting as fact.

Fox-era imagery and a Logan echo
The teaser places Deadpool in front of a half-buried 20th Century Fox logo and briefly shows Wolverine wearing a yellow-and-blue costume associated with the character’s classic comic-book look. GameSpot also compares a fallen tree in the background to the setting of Logan’s death in Logan. That is a visual echo proposed by the reviewer, not confirmation of a timeline or continuity link.
What the April trailer adds: Cassandra Nova and Wolverine
Den of Geek identifies Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova and describes her, in the comics, as Professor X’s twin sister. Its breakdown interprets a shot of Nova controlling Wolverine as a hint of her power; that is an analysis of the image, not an official explanation of the scene. The same article calls out the CN Tower, Canadian setting details and Wolverine costume references. Together, the April footage puts more emphasis on Wolverine and Nova than the February teaser’s quick survey of Deadpool’s world.

Does the trailer connect to Secret Wars?
Secret Wars is best treated here as a comics-reference or Easter-egg reading, not proof that Deadpool & Wolverine directly establishes the plot of a later Avengers: Secret Wars. A February 2024 New Rockstars breakdown description says its analysis covers “Secret Wars, Age of Ultron, the X-Men, and Ryan Reynolds’ film history”; that establishes that commentators discussed the connection, not that Marvel confirmed a narrative setup. See the New Rockstars breakdown description.
If the reference prompts you to explore the comics, a Secret Wars collection can provide background, but the trailer evidence does not identify a definitive issue or edition as its source. The comic is optional context, not required reading to follow the film.

Why cameo clues should not eclipse the story
Director, writer and producer Shawn Levy has described the film’s tone as “all Deadpool” and called its central relationship an “odd couple, buddy cop movie,” in an interview published by Disney. He has also explained the discipline required to resist adding every possible cameo or Easter egg: “The difficult part is being disciplined so that you’re not just saying yes to every cameo, yes to every Easter egg. If you do too much of that, the audience isn’t going to invest in the story.” Read the comments in The Walt Disney Company’s July 25, 2024 interview.
That framing helps sort the trailer’s details by what they contribute: the TVA establishes the multiverse premise; familiar supporting characters reconnect the story to Wade’s earlier films; the costume and Fox logo evoke X-Men franchise history. Other quick images may reward speculation, but a possible cameo or comic-book parallel is not automatically a plot promise. As Marvel Studios president and producer Kevin Feige put it in the same Disney interview, “The secret to integrating Deadpool into the Disney company is to let Deadpool be Deadpool.”
