There is no verified, objective ranking of the worst celebrity tippers. The stories below are allegations from anonymous or online accounts, not established records of what happened. They make for revealing celebrity tipping stories—but they should not be treated as proof of a person’s habits.
What these celebrity tipping stories can—and cannot—show
The accounts come from reader-submission compilations and an archival newspaper page. The publishers caution that they cannot verify the stories; some are secondhand, and several lack an encounter date or basic details such as the check total. The anecdotes also describe different things: alleged no-tips, small flat amounts, a disputed fee, and a guest’s reported conduct. That makes a defensible worst-to-best ranking impossible.
Here are ten reported allegations, arranged by person rather than severity. Jennifer Lopez appears twice because two separate accounts describe different alleged incidents; they are not corroboration of each other.
Ten reported allegations
1. Jennifer Lopez: alleged no-tip after a long service
A December 2025 BuzzFeed compilation reproduced an anonymous submitter’s secondhand account: the person said a friend served Lopez shortly after she became famous, that Lopez and her entourage kept the server busy and occupied the table for more than three hours, and that they left no tip. The account does not identify a date or provide independent confirmation.

2. Jennifer Lopez: a separate disputed chip story
The same December 2025 compilation included a different anonymous account alleging that Ben Affleck placed a $100 chip on a server’s tray and Lopez removed it and substituted a $5 chip. The report provides no independent corroboration. It is a separate submission from the no-tip story, not evidence that the two accounts describe the same visit or a recurring pattern.
3. Kurt Russell: alleged tips of no more than $2
A February 2026 BuzzFeed compilation quoted an anonymous server who said they waited on Russell at a mountain breakfast restaurant in Santa Monica. The submitter said the bill for two was between $150 and $250 and that Russell “never left more than two bucks.” The account does not date the encounters or offer independent corroboration.

4. Tom Brady: a reported $20 tip on a $4,200 tab
A September 2026 BuzzFeed article reproduced a Reddit-submitted account from someone who said they had worked as a manager and sommelier. The submitter alleged that a server received one $20 cash tip on a $4,200 tab. The article says BuzzFeed cannot guarantee the stories’ accuracy, truth, or validity; the figure is an allegation from that post, not a verified transaction.
5. Drake: alleged no-tip after a room-fee dispute
In the same September 2026 article, a Reddit account alleged that Drake disputed a room fee after a restaurant stayed open four hours beyond closing, ultimately paid the charge, and left no tip. The post is not independently verified, and the account does not establish the details of the service or bill.

6. Gordon Ramsay: a group reportedly left no tip
Another Reddit-submitted story in the September 2026 compilation alleged that Ramsay arrived with a group of about nine people and that they did not tip. The post gives little context about the check, service, or whether gratuity had already been included, so it cannot establish what happened or support a broader claim about Ramsay.
7. Pee-wee Herman (Paul Reubens): alleged rudeness and no tip
A February 2026 BuzzFeed compilation included a reader account alleging that Reubens was rude and did not tip. The account, as summarized in the compilation, does not supply details sufficient to verify the encounter or assess the service and bill.

9. Zydrunas Ilgauskas: alleged repeated no-tips by his group
A reader account in the February 2026 compilation alleged that Ilgauskas’s group repeatedly did not tip. It does not provide independently verified records, and the broad claim of repetition remains the submitter’s allegation.

10. Kathie Lee Gifford: a historical driver’s allegation
A 1996 Hereford Brand page reported a limousine driver’s allegation that Gifford was late, needed a second car for luggage, and did not tip. The archival account is anonymous and offers no supporting records. It describes a historical allegation, not evidence of her present-day behavior.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why the stories do not add up to an all-time ranking
- Different kinds of claims: A reported no-tip, a small cash amount, and an alleged payment dispute are not equivalent measures.
- Uneven detail: Only some accounts give both a bill and a tip; most do not provide enough information to calculate a tip percentage.
- Different levels of sourcing: The stories include anonymous submissions, a secondhand account, a Reddit post, and a historical newspaper report. None of the underlying transactions is independently established in the cited material.
- Dates are often missing: Where an encounter is undated, it should not be taken as a description of current behavior. The 1996 report is plainly historical.
- No representative data: These anecdotes do not measure celebrity tipping behavior as a group, and the material supplies no statistical study or consistent definition of a “bad tip.”
The most accurate way to read this list is as a collection of stories people have told about celebrity encounters—not as a verdict on the named individuals.
