Charlie Puth performed his single “Changes” as musical guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The performance is available as a video on the show’s official YouTube channel, which lists it with an October 21, 2025 date. The song is the first advance single from Puth’s album Whatever’s Clever!, so the performance was part of its promotional rollout.
Where to watch the performance
Search YouTube for the official channel of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and look for the performance upload. The video’s description reads: “Musical guest Charlie Puth performs “Changes” for The Tonight Show.” Use the show’s official channel rather than re-uploads, since the official listing is the one that establishes the performance and its publication date.
When the song was released
“Changes” does not have a single worldwide release date. The dates depend on the source and the territory:
| Source | Date given | What it describes |
|---|---|---|
| Warner Music Japan | October 17, 2025 (Japan time) | Release of the song as the first advance single from Whatever’s Clever! |
| Apple Music | October 18, 2025 | Date shown for the track on the Whatever’s Clever! listing |
| The Tonight Show’s official YouTube channel | October 21, 2025 | Publication date of the performance video, not the song’s release |
The gap between the Japan date and the Apple Music date is largely a time-zone and territory question, and it is not a contradiction. If you are checking a date for a specific country, confirm it against that country’s storefront.

How the label describes the song
Warner Music Japan’s announcement describes “Changes” as having a nostalgic, timeless sound. That phrase is the label’s own characterization of the record, not a critical assessment, and it is the only description of the song’s sound in the sources behind this article.
