The April 2025 all-new trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps put Marvel’s First Family, Silver Surfer and H.E.R.B.I.E. in the foreground, while emphasizing the film’s retro-futuristic 1960s setting. Disney announced it for 17 April; it was not the film’s final trailer, which arrived in June.
What did the April trailer add?
Disney UK Press described the trailer as showcasing Marvel’s First Family, Silver Surfer, H.E.R.B.I.E. and a retro-futuristic 1960s vibe. That announcement offered a clearer promotional picture of the film’s family-centered team and distinctive period-inspired world. It does not establish a frame-by-frame inventory of the trailer’s scenes.
The announcement page was dated 16 April 2025 and listed 17 April as the trailer and poster release date. Disney UK Press’s April announcement is the source for those details.
Who is in The Fantastic Four: First Steps?
| Character | Actor |
|---|---|
| Reed Richards / Mister Fantastic | Pedro Pascal |
| Sue Storm / Invisible Woman | Vanessa Kirby |
| Johnny Storm / Human Torch | Joseph Quinn |
| Ben Grimm / The Thing | Ebon Moss-Bachrach |
The official synopsis frames the four as both heroes and a family. They must protect Earth from Galactus, played by Ralph Ineson, and his Herald, Silver Surfer, played by Julia Garner. H.E.R.B.I.E. is also highlighted in the April trailer announcement, but that announcement does not identify a performer for the character.

Why is Silver Surfer central to the threat?
The official synopsis identifies Silver Surfer as Galactus’s Herald and describes the team’s challenge as balancing heroism with the strength of their family bond while defending Earth. The danger is therefore presented not just as a cosmic threat, but as one that tests the family at its center. The synopsis is official promotional copy, not a quotation from a named speaker.
How did the April trailer fit the release sequence?

| All-new trailer and poster | 17 April 2025 | Disney UK Press announced the trailer’s focus on the First Family, Silver Surfer, H.E.R.B.I.E. and the retro-futuristic 1960s vibe. |
