Hulk Hogan has said he was offered a choice involving a grill and a blender—and that George Foreman got the grill. But the available accounts establish Hogan told the story, not that the offer happened as described. When asked about it in 2023, Foreman praised Hogan as a friend and said the grill “has got its own story”; he did not confirm the alleged offer.
Was Hulk Hogan offered the George Foreman Grill first?
That is Hogan’s version of events, not a verified fact. Biography.com’s Hulk Hogan profile says Hogan claimed he had the opportunity to endorse the grill but instead sponsored the Hulkamania Meatball Maker. It also recounts a 2011 joke in which Hogan framed the decision as a grill-versus-blender choice.
The distinction matters: the source attributes the anecdote to Hogan; it does not independently document an offer, a missed call, or a rejection. So “Hogan turned down the George Foreman Grill” is too definite. The careful version is that Hogan later told a story about losing out on the grill endorsement.
What did Hulk Hogan say he got instead?
In the 2011 quip reported by Biography.com, Hogan joked: “So basically, $550 million later, George got the Lean, Mean Grilling Machine and I got a blender that when you put AA batteries in, it would fart and then turn off.” It was a punchline, not a verified accounting of either man’s earnings or a confirmed record of what Hogan was offered.
Biography.com also says Hogan sponsored the Hulkamania Meatball Maker. That is separate from his later grill product: Hogan partnered with Thane Direct to launch the Hulk Hogan Ultimate Grill in 2005.
What did George Foreman say about Hogan’s story?
Asked in a ComicBook.com interview published April 23, 2023, whether Hogan nearly became the grill’s pitchman, Foreman said: “Oh, Hulk Hogan and I were great friends,” followed by, “But that George Foreman Grill has got its own story.” He added, “It’s not even mine anymore. It’s theirs.”

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
That answer is not confirmation of Hogan’s account, but neither is it a direct denial. The interview leaves the central question unresolved: it does not establish whether Hogan was approached first or declined the endorsement.
How the grill story fits its timeline
- 1994: Biography.com dates the George Foreman Grill’s debut to this year.
- December 1999: Biography.com reports that manufacturer Salton paid Foreman $137.5 million in cash and stock for rights to his name and image. CBS News also reports a $137.5 million five-year deal. These are outlet-reported figures and terms, not a separately reconciled accounting.
- 2005: The Hulk Hogan Grill product-history page dates the Ultimate Grill’s launch with Thane Direct to November 22. It describes interchangeable plates for grilling, waffles, and panini pressing. That page repeats the missed-opportunity anecdote, so it supports its own product-history details, not independent confirmation of Hogan’s earlier claim.
- 2011: Biography.com attributes the blender joke to Hogan.
- 2023: Foreman gave the non-confirming response in the ComicBook.com interview.
Why the story keeps getting retold
The anecdote has the shape of a perfect celebrity what-if: a wrestler says he could have been the face of a hugely recognizable kitchen appliance, while his alternative is a deliberately ridiculous blender. The real-world sequence is less tidy. The grill debuted in 1994, Foreman’s reported name-and-image deal came later, and Hogan eventually launched a grill of his own. Those milestones make the joke memorable, but they do not prove that Hogan passed on the original endorsement.
